Title: 12v power question with PIC
Post by: urbecrisch on July 04, 2007, 10:57:29 am
I'm curious if I can use my PC to power up my coin lamps (LED) or if I should use my power supply powering my arcade monitor.

I already have 12v power from my PC to my trackball (Lightmite).  Can I split the same wire to power my coin lamps or should I use the 12v coming from my external power supply (PIC1)?

I just don't want to damage anything giving too much juice from the same source.

Yes

Yes

Especially if you're running LED's....they won't draw too much current off the PC power supply.
Just be sure to use the right voltage lamp/LED for whatever voltage you put to them.
i.e. 5v or 12v, etc
