Hey guys,
I need some help regarding a power supply. I am in the process of rounding up the parts for a arcade game I want to restore and I ran across a manual for my game that states the power requirements. Here is what it printed....
" Be sure the power supply from your old game is capable of +5 vdc regulated at 6a; +12 vdc regulated at 1a and -5 vdc regulated at 1/2a"
What should I use?
I understand this is probably a dumb question, but I don't want to buy the wrong thing and BBQ the pcb. Besides, I am new to this.... cut me some slack.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Seems like a standard ATX style supply should deliver all of that. But you'll need to hardwire the "power good" line to an adjacent ground to get it started.

Power supplies (both computer and arcade) list the amperage rating for the different voltages.
Make sure that the power supply you buy has at least the amperage rating listed in your game manual. It's okay if the power supply is rated higher. It's a listing of the maximum draw it can handle.

That is what I need to know. After reading the game manual I was wondering if it took a particular power supply. I read somewhere once that a lot of game manufacturers had power supplies designed specifically for one game and then another for a different game. The article mentioned that this took place back in the days before the switching power supply made an appearance. ;D
