Title: Advantage of switching from Mame32 to normal Mame?
Post by: AE35 on June 26, 2007, 04:06:15 am

Hey all.

In my cabs I run Mame32 with MaLa as frontend. SInce some of you say it's silly having two
frontends, I've considered putting in normal Mame instead of Mame32.

But now that the cabinets are already made and running, will there be an advantage to this? Speed
or other?

Thanks,

Nicholas

Mame 32 is not fully compatable with all front-ends.  It sometimes (depending upon the version) lacks certain command-line calls need to retrieve game info from mame.  Every so often, the mame.ini doesn't work, or lacks flags found in the official build.  Also it's code can vary from the official mame build from time to time, not to mention the loading of games is a little slower.
