Title: Keyboard Leds and MAME??
Post by: Chazz on June 23, 2007, 11:29:51 pm
Hey guys,
I've just finished wiring up my LED Harness and I can't get it to do anything with MAME.  The Caps Lock and Num Lock LEDs are working as I can turn them on and off with with the keyboard, Scroll Lock doesn't do anything.

Here's a few pics of what I've been doing all day

Thanks!

Wow that's very neat.
Are you talking about the IPAC harness for blinking the P1 and P2 start buttons?  Are you running ledutil.exe that comes with MAME?  That is now required for keyboard LED blinking support now.

I have ledutil running in the background, I put it in my Startup folder and double checked in my Task Manager that it was running, but still no luck.

I have the following lines in my mame32.ini:

leds            1
led_mode        usb

Try adding "-usb" to the command line of ledutil.exe to use USB mode (PS2 is the default).  The LED stuff was moved out of MAME sometime back (I don't think those parameters are used anymore).

Also FYI, the USB mode of ledutil.exe was broken until version 116, so you'll need the very latest version.
