Title: Help with a MAME PC
Post by: Cilrider on April 21, 2003, 01:59:15 pm
Soo im heading off to college soon (Arizona) and I really need a new computer for my mame cab. Right now I have a P III HP 650 mhz 128 mb ram Geforce 4 MX.  I would like it to run Mortal Komba, NBA Jam ...and even Killer Instinct (with ULemu (sp?)of course)....

So if anyone would like to give some specs or know of anywhere that has some good deals going on it would be most appreciated....thanks! ;D

Since you have an HP machine, you're out of luck as far as upgrading what you've currently got.  You're pretty much going to have to replace everything short of the monitor/keyboard/mouse.  I'd recommend going to pricewatch.com and pieceing together a system (if you know what you're doing) or check out the local classifieds.  You should be able to find a used 1.5Ghz+ machine for $500 or less.

I would check out ebay for a cheap PC.  I found a Athlon 1900 XP processor, motherboard, case & power supply for $80- NEW.  Its not top of the line, but more than enough for 99% of Mame games.  Good luck
