Post by: AwesomeAlbert on June 21, 2007, 12:27:47 am
I acquired a donkey kong cab, has everything in it except for the game. (my first cab with a monitor in it)  i want to see if the monitor works  before i go get a game, how do i test it?  i plugged the monitor  in and does nothing. should the screen glow? I know its a 100w, didnt plug it on the wall.

thanks in advance

Glad you didn't plug it into the wall, this monitor requires an isolation transformer.

It also requires 100V, not 110.  So you should be using the transformer inside the cabinet.

a game board would be handy to test the cab ;)
there are ways to test component parts of the cab and first off get yourself a multimeter as it will be a very important piece of kit allowing you to read voltages and check wiring continuity-once you get the multimeter then post back and one of us we be able to talk you through the various pre checks

You should hear the "static crackle" when the monitor powers up, and even glow at the neck, but turning up the brightness, even with no board in the cab, should show a glow on the screen if everything's working fine....
