Title: Idea: Pac-Man CE Arcade!!!
Post by: swolgam on June 20, 2007, 10:46:51 am
Well ive been tossing this idea around for a few days now eversince I got ticked off at my xbox controller because of the analog stick responsiveness to the Pacman CE game.

Here's what I would like to do.   Build a cabinet that had plenty of weight in the base and thin enough at the top so I can use an LCD monitor.  I would like to design something like the Naomi Universal stand up cab but I dont know how well that would look using wood.

I would use a dedicated xbox 360 loaded with xbla games as a basis.  I dont think i could rig the game to accept quarters but putting a coin slot box in it for looks would be a plus.  Another big hurdle would be converting the controller to a control panel.  Would it be ok to use 4 way sticks wired to a xbox wired controller that is plugged into the system?

My wife thinks im nuts because it's all im talking about right now however i need some ideas before i take the plunge.  Anyone have arcade cabinet plans that used an LCD monitor that I can get a link to?

Thanks,
Steve

I've looked at that design and have considered doing something like that myself.  I don't think it'd be hard to pull off.  You could build the main frame from something like deep unistrut or square steel tubing.  The rest of the wood stuff could be handled easily.  If all you wanted was the look, you could probably cut MDF, layer it, and then shape it.  It depends on how much work you want to put into it, really.

The Woody cab would be great for this...
