Hi Everyone. I have completed many cabinets with Happ trackballs and have used different encoders depending on the project. Birdie King used to be one of my favorites, but when I try to hit a more forceful shot at a 45 degree angle (upper left - Upper right) or more, the trackball performs poorly. Typically the golf ball will end up going towards one o'clock when I wanted 2 o'clock or better and the distance is poor.
This has been the same problem with each cabinet. The trackball works perfectly in every other game. Golden Tee, Bowling, no problems.
Has anyone seen this in their cabinets? I've messed with many settings and had no luck at all.

I loaded up this game to test specifically for this problem, and the first few shots performed exactly as you described. But then I changed my hand position and it worked properly.
I first used my right hand and spun the trackball (HAPP, iPAC) and couldn't get it to go at that angle without it going to the left.
Then I used both hands, but only my thumbs, resting my hands on either side of the trackball and moving my thumbs forcefully in the direction I wanted, specifically up and to the right. It worked great.
Just wondering if the initial spin detection on the rollers in this game partially or wholly dictates the direction, and maybe it's not very forgiving. I figure using my right hand only, there is a little less force where my thumb is thereby creating the leftward drift.
Any lefties to chime in?

Thanks Dervacumen. I tried with the thumbs and still get a pretty poor shot. I'm suprised no one has mentioned this problem before......

It's entirely possible that you have better control over the shots than I do, and therefore notice the drift more. I'll continue to look into it. Heck any reason to play a game is okay in my book. Just played DK Jr., and Dig Dug since the machine was on. ;D
