So im getting ready to build my very first arcade/jutebox cabinet and am very excited to start. Before i do so, im researching a couple things and i have a question about getting LED marquees to display mame/music names .
Ive looked around the forum a bit but havent found a page dedicated to it. Just how does it work? Ive seen LED wiz thrown around a bit but going to their home page really didnt help much. Ive found some VB code on how to get the lcd to display the music title and the band. But other then that, i have no clue on how to display the name. Also, i dont know if this helps, but i would like to use MAME32 as a frontend if possible
Sorry to come across as a noob, but any help will be great.

Sorry for the repost, but i think i found what i needed.

this has a program that will display what MAME32 is playing. So i guess my question is all i need to do is get LED wiz, a LED board and hook it all up and run this program right?
EDIT: Damn it, i wish i look around more. Found LEDblinky V2.0 which says the name of the game! Does it do the same thing as the program i first listed? Has anyone here used ether or? And if so, how was it.

I think what you are looking for is a beta brite. They are led displays that interface through the serial port and the frontend. No need to build or buy anything extra. search this site for beta brite and also look at the Mala front end. There is a great plugin for the units by Loadman.
A you tube search would also bring up one or too on different cabs.
The Led Wiz is for control panel lighting.
mccoy178 has a cabinet with a perfect example of what it looks like.

jace055 is correct - the LEDBlinky is for lighting control panel LEDs. It can speak the name of each game, but it's primary purpose is to light LEDs. Check out MaLa - it's an excellent front-end (way more advanced than mame32) and has many cool plugins! ;D
