Title: MALA plugin for set49mode available ? need to set gpwiz49 to default upon exit

Looking for either a plugin or a way to set a default mode for the gpwiz49 upon exit e.g. set to 8-way mode. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have (or at least had) a beta version somewhere but could never really find testers for it.  I'll look around.  If you don't hear from me in the next few days, don't feel too shy to remind me.

I've got mine working in mala like that without a plugin, lemme dig around and see what I did..

As long as you have it working fine from a command prompt (eg.. set49mode.exe pacman), this should work for you:
On the Controller tab-->Encoder tab, I have the following settings:
"Use keyboard encoder on the fly programming" checked
"Encoder software" is set to the path to set49mode.exe
"Default config" I have set to 1942 (this is the default 8way game I use to have it set back to 8way on exit)
Command line set to %rom%
"Send full path" is checked
"Quote config file path" is checked

Last 2 checkboxes are empty.

Thanks Angry_Radish for the good info. I will give that a try.

Fatfingers....I recall seeing your post regarding the plugin you developed, at the time nobody was ready to test it out if I recall correctly. Looks like  Angry_radish's setup might be a viable solution. Either way if you think the plugin will be of help I would not mind checking it out if you come across it. Thanks.
