I have a couple of things that I need to mount in the wall of my half-built cocktail cabinet - namely a small switch (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SK0960&CATID=28&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=401) to power down the monitor for degauss while I rotate it, and a PSU-style plug (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=PP4003&CATID=35&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=610) to allow juice in from the outside world.
Trouble is - both of those components were designed to snap into holes in 1mm metal sheets, and instead I have 17mm ply. So I'm planning to cut holes to suit, run glue around them and whack those babies in to stick for eternity.
:dunno And finally my question... what sort of glue will adhere smooth plastic like this against the cut edge of plywood? All I have lying around is PVA.
And if this is just plain not going to work, I'd love to find that out, too :)

Most plastics are surprisingly glue-resistant. If you really want these components to be permanently attached, I'd suggest using a two-part epoxy.

Or to be a little simpler, something like strong velcro would do well.

In my opinion you can't beat a hot glue gun for that type of application. You can goop as much as you need to hold it in place. The glue sticks great, sets (cools) fairly quickly and can actually be removed if necessary in the future with a bit of elbow grease.
