Yep, that is probably the most famous and most envied home gameroom on the net. It never gets old.

Me too.... works fine.

I would LOVE to have a dedicated space like that.
Then it would be easier to justify spending more money on the hobby to "spruce it up".
 ;D
Awesome !!

Weird.  I've got FF 2.0.0.4 as well, and I can't see the images.  If I right click on them and select 'view image' it pops me right to the site entrance (where I can't see any pictures there either).  I can see it in IE just fine.

I'm sure it's a FF setting, but I dunno what.

Dude has 2 Battlezone machines? That's just excessive.  :P

Peale - Is this anything to do with it maybe ?

Was thinking maybe the "load images automatically" part under Content.

I noticed the two Battlezones as well, thought to myself   "hell, it'd be nice to just finish the one I have now". (gotta love the vector games)
He defineately has a nice collection of the pure classics.......

sounds like you are blocking the referer, and the site is assuming you are directly being linked to an image so redirecting you to the main page.

What a complete waste of some perfectly good side art!!!

Fancy blocking this artwork with another cab.......... what a waste.

And the carpet...... perfectly good looking carpet covered by cab after cab after cab.  This guy does not deserve to own these cabs and other cab related stuff.

I should confiscate the lot.

Nope.  It works in IE.  Unless there's a setting in FF that I accidentally tripped on.  Everything else is working fine.

Nope.  I have images turned on.

Oh, Hirschberg. Yeah, he's an oldie. He wrote a few emulators - a vector one, one for marble madness, maybe others - back in 97 and 98.

Also notice he's in the middle of building, or rather re-fabbing an old building into, a new one. Although apparently he picked a terrible building contractor - not putting in that much work, and what a waste of space with building over those bay doors...I don't know why they didn't just pull them and put a piece flush with the outer walls, maybe even re-using the bay doors cut to size. Anyways, looks as if he'll have enough room for at least a hundred games.

All that and no Robotron?  Booooo....

I'll trade my Robotron with his collection if he agrees  ;D

Who really needs a Robotron with: Star Wars Cockpit, Tempest, Berzerk, Tron, Joust and all that other machines ?
Not that I don't like Robotron but I wouldn't miss it with such a collection ;)

This collection is really awesome and I can't wait to see the new Game-Barn :) I'm sure it's gonna be very impressive.  12'x19' on two stories !!

Ok, it's a deal.  I'll trade his collection for your Robotron.  We don't need his consent.

Oh, their putting it up from scratch. I don't know why Hirschberg had that bay door idea, when you can't even use them. Weird. But, to clarify, the whole building - 40'x60', two-story - is the game room.

Yeah, I'd miss Robotron. And I'd pass on those 70s games, and even a few 80s ones for some others. Definitely need another DOT environmental for duels. Actually, that's how I first saw it, at Six Flags Magic Mountain; they had at least two or three dual units.

To say it's a nice collection is a major understatement.

What I don't understand is what the driving games and Sega Convert-A-Cabs did to get segregated from the rest of the games. I'd prefer a more diverse arcade.

That entire website is full of fun stuff. Did you see the Vertisim? I loved that toy when I was a kid. Ebay, here I come.

Quote from his March 26, 2007 blog entry:
The bay doors will be walled over for our purposes, but I wanted the underlying structure to be there for the garage bays so any future owners could always convert the building into a normal garage without any fuss. That should make selling the house easier if we ever get to that point.

Ah. Thanks. A lot of blog entries to comb through, with not a lot going on, so I didn't see it. Um, sell it?

From time to time, there are people who sell one house and buy another.

It happens, really, I swear.

I wouldn't be building something like that with any plans to sell it. Besides, if you gotta tear out walling to get to bay doors, you might as well let 'em make new ones. Actually, I thought he was doing it for the display factor of the locale (which I wouldn't care about, myself).

Maybe the city required it to look like a garage to allow the building permit.  Or maybe he wanted it to look like a garage to deter the fact that he has thousands and thousands of dollars in arcade games in there.

A little of both maybe? In my neighborhood it's against building code to build two homes on the same lot. The lot has to be divided. The whole process and the end result is very expensive. One way around this is to buy a lot with two existing homes, the grandfather clause. You can also build a second or even third garage. Two rules that I can remember that defines a garage is, it has to have a garage door and it has to be physically less than 5' (or is it 2'?) from the nearest point of the garage to the nearest point of the house.

Internally, things are different and I have no idea what code is. There's too many illegally converted garages around here for me to care. What I do know, however, is that every home on the selling block with an illegally converted garage had to have their "conversions" gutted out and the space reverted back to a garage in order for the home to be sold. Just covering the garage door like that might be an easy and cheap way to accomplish just that.
