Title: WTS: PVR-150 TV Card/MPEG2 Encoder [Indianapolis, IN]
Post by: MonMotha on June 07, 2007, 01:14:58 am
I have a Hauppage PVR-150 PCI TV Card that I would like to get to somebody who can make better use of it.  This is a hardware MPEG2 encoder device, so you can record with virtually zero CPU usage (decoding for playback is software but requires only a system which can play a DVD).

The catch is that the TV tuner itself is not working (I think).  The composite and S-Video inputs are fine (I've verified they work), but the TV tuner gives static.  It comes with an IR blaster, so if you have a cable box, you could hook that up to this.  There's also a DVD video setting, so you could use this to quickly transfer video to DVD (supposedly the windows software supports this).  You may be able to get it working again, but don't count on it (I think it got fried).

The card works with Linux (and MythTV) using the ivtv drivers, or I have the CD for Win2k/XP/XP MCE.  This is not the MCE stripped down bundle, so it does include the IR blaster/receiver and remote control, including original, unused batteries (which may or may not be good).  I have all the original packaging, manuals, etc, and the shrink wrap (torn) is still on the box.

These are going on eBay used/fully functional for about $45-55, so I'd like about $20 for this since it's still perfectly usable for somebody who doesn't need the tuner.  I'd also consider trades for certain MVS carts or a couple Midway 49-ways (yes, I realize these aren't quite even - negotiate on trades as always).  Buyer pays shipping for a $$ transaction, but we can each pay shipping one way for a trade.

I don't have paypal, sorry.  I'll take a USPS money order or cashier's check.

Hey - I'm in indianapolis - I have one of these cards already, but I could use another one for just this purpose - video transfer only...  what corner of the city are you on?

I'm on the far north side, actually technically (much to my dismay) in Carmel.  I'm regularly at a place called X-Site amusement in Castleton, if that helps any, or I'll be driving down to Bloominton tomorrow, so I'll go through a good chunk of the city on my way down there.

drop me a line at jedi27@comcast.net - we can save the shipping charges and just meet in person -

Indy Rocks!  It's a small world.  I used to live in Brownsburg on the North West side.

I dated a girl from Carmel, and have an ex-wife in Fishers....I guess that's part of the reason I live in Texas now ;D  That's got all the makings of a country song, but I guess "All my exes live in Indy" just doesn't work as well....maybe if John Mellencamp sang it.

Speaking of Mellencamp....  I'm in Bloomington.  Such a small world.  All of these BYOACers in my neck of the woods
