You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss 80 bucks goodbye!!!  My favorite part of the movie is when Chinchilla the wookie monster starts munchin on the Princess' cinnamon rolls  :laugh2:

Woo hoo - I'm popping that puppy on eBay!   I bought the DVD for $8 so that's like a two zillion percent profit (not in the mood to do math right now).

Just kidding - I'm not selling my copy.  I love it too much.  But I do remember the main site actually let you watch the movie in it's entirety.   However, the DVD has pretty decent extras (the "commentary" is worthy of quite a few chuckles).  Not worth $70 though, IMO.

ha! id never actually thought of looking for the production studios web site and buying it off them!

http://www.mwp.com/films/hardware-wars/

thanks dave! job done!

edit: hmmm, they have a baffling array of freight options, ranging from a punch in the mouth $20 to a testicle ripping kazziillion bucks. i might email them and see if they cant just send it in the mail like everyone does...

geez, either they make most of their money from the freight, or you mercans are getting shafted with freight charges. the cheapest i could get it down to was $6.15, in the US! its about half that to send a dvd anywhere in australia. my other plan was to see if a kindly byoacer could get it for me and then send it in the mail but it doesnt sound like it will be much cheaper that way either.

my other thought is does anyone live near them?

Michael Wiese Productions
11288 Ventura Blvd
Suite #621
Studio City
CA 91604
USA

if you could walk down to them and buy a copy THEN the freight would be reasonable! otherwise its argghhhh!

all because of them! i WANTED to pay for it...

Is it the original version or the new "Special Edition" one?
Title: Re: hardware wars blues :(

special edition :( but im pretty sure even my vhs version was the special edition too. was a silly thing to do. ok, yes he is parodying lucas's inane history re-writing penchant. but couldnt he have provided the original too? its not like there wasnt enough room on a tape! even lucas finally relented last year and released the actual originals without the stupid 'episode IV' stuff...

are you kidding? 249.00 for something you can watch for free on youtube?

I mean, Hardware Wars was funny, and a great memory from my childhood...but that is insane

The "special edition" of Hardware Wars was not endorsed by Ernie F. (the director/writer of the original).  That's according to Wikipedia, so take with a grain of salt.  However, the DVD didn't have the updated version so it has a good chance of being accurate.

EDIT: The official site confirmed it:

Quote
Ernie Fosselius did not contribute to, nor authorize the new scenes for the Special Edition edition. It was produced by Michael Wiese, the original producer of Hardware Wars.

Am I the only one who finds the logistics of that sequence a bit odd?   :laugh2:

No, we have that place as well - Tasmania is the equivalent place for "Southerners". The little island off the bottom that looks like a full stop. Everyone in Queensland is a bit strange because they're all sun-stroked from something crazy like 300+ days a year of sunshine.

As a dated indie parody film, it's a magnificent piece of cheese work....as a movie, sure it sucks.

BUT, that wasn't the point...it was supposed to be bad....
