so i plugged my betson into the video card and i see the windows start up stuff but then when it gets to windows its just a black screen with a box that flashes something about the Khz.. i guess its out of range but i have no idea what to do.. booted in vga mode in safe mode and it does the same thing
do i need an AVGA card in my computer to even display anything?
-
Can you elaborate on the "something about the khz" msg? It should be able to handle 800x600 and lower, so I'm not sure why safe mode doesn't work for you. What was your windows desktop set to?
-
my bad. i'm dumb. it was set at 72 refresh rate. i changed it to 60 and i can see the display..
so 800x600 @ 60hz is safe for this? i just want to make sure, i'm a bit scared of this thing.
-
Yep should be.
-
is there no power switch for this monitor? have to unplug it?
also is there a way to increase the sharpness? windows looks really blurry
-
Picture quality: check the pots on your neck board.
Power switch: nope. They come that way, cos the cabinet is wired.
-
i don't really feel comfortable messing with the anything in the back, i dont even know what i'm looking for.. any online guidance?
-
800x600 is a tad blurry on this monitor because of the large dotpitch. But that doesn't matter because you'll be running your games at much lower arcade resolutions!
-
so when i have everything setup, say i turn the computer off, is it safe to just flip the power switch on the surge protector to turn the monitor off... i dont really want it says -no signal- the whole time if i have my cabinet turned off.
-
I turn mine off before the computer. Invest in a smartstrip.

so you plug your computer into the blue and the monitor/marquee light etc into red.. then when i turn the computer off everything shuts off with it???? amazing!
so my monitor can be turned off even though it has no power switch?

Yup!
I also got one of those Smartstrips as well.
I plugged the computer into the blue, and then the monitor and speakers into the non-red locations.
(Red is Constant Hot Outlets, for things you DON'T want your computer controlling)
It works quite well.
