It is a little hard to easily get a handle on the full range of features of both of these due to the fact that neither has a manual. Can someone who has used these both of these mention what feature advantages one has compared to the other? I am aware that some people have a problem with the VMJ developer. I am more interested in the programs themselves.
My application is a wall mounted, non-touch screen box that will be controlled by buttons.
-
Honestly in short I like the features of VMJ and was a very good supporter of the developer but SK Jukebox is more dependable and has excelent support with more user controllable features. If you want dependable then SK Jukebox is what you should use. Download SK Jukebox and play with it and I think you will find there is nothing better that supports buttons.

I downloaded SK. It does have a lot of options, however it is very hard to tell what many of them do. Is there any guide that you are aware of that explains all of the options?
-
Not that I am aware of!
They are by category, so by changing any of those will affect that category. If there are options you don't understand post them here and we will help you or over at the SK forum!
I use SK but of coarse have only changed options that I was concerned about. Sometimes it seems options can be overkill but not in this case options can meet everyone's needs!

I bought VMJ and found it to be very buggy, though it does have a few more options than SK Jukebox.
SK Jukebox is free and in my opinion the superior program.

I'm a huge fan of SK Jukebox and it is a great piece of software, but now I find myself looking for something else.
SK Jukebox keeps dropping songs from the selection list and so far I haven't been able to find a fix. This kinda defeats the whole purpose of a juke.
-
if it does on same songs, it may been a compatible issues, other it a issue, you should submit on the SK-Jukebox forum.
Im have to say I respect jukebox authors out here, because I are developer of my own jukebox software. So I would not comment which software is best. It a matter of personly chooise and what controls you have.
I can conly only recommered to download demo and download SK-Jukebox to test them out.
In MultiJuke example (my own) it use a another control screme than both two, which can been god and bad for some. It by design, since I did go a bit difficent way....

Its a known issue that has been posted on the SK boards many times . . no fix yet though

SK Use WMP, do the files that do not play worth if you play them in windows media player? You could try downloading the K-Lite codec pack off www.betanews.com and see if that resoves the issue. It contains codecs and filters.

The songs play just fine in SK, its just that they magically disappear from the queue. For instance, you select 7 songs and when SK moves to the next song, you may only have 4 songs left in the queue.

Ahhh... Ok it sounds like a bug. I thought it might be skipping some songs because they wouldn't play in media player hence it was jumping to the next song and so on. But if it plays the song you were expecting to be the next song then that can't be what is happening.

I have had SK running on my Juke for almost 2 years now and never had that issue of it dropping songs out of the queue.
I hope it gets fixed for everyone else. I have been playing with other Juke programs and I always come back to SK.

Do you use version 3.0 or 4.0? My understanding is the 3.0 didn't have this problem. If that is true, I may roll back and use that version. I have no need for the video support but this feature in 4.0 is key
"0000010: [Feature/Request] Stop Playing Album Flipping Sound When Screensaver Active (SalmonKing)"
When I'm cranking tunes and flipping albums, the noise is really loud. The option to turn it off it 4.0 is appealing to me.

I believe I am using 4.0 because 3.0 was missing the letters on the on screen keyboard.
