Hey everyone,
Time to clean out some of the excess and what not so I can make room for all the new projects over here at RAM Controls.
So, here's what I have available today:
1. I have a couple dozen Major Havoc roller controllers left over from the very first production run I did last year. Since then, I've completed two more production runs, but I managed to hold back a few from the first production run for no apparent reason. These are pristine condition, 100% working, fully functional production units I sell on the website for $200 each plus shipping. Today, as a forum special, I'm blowing these out for $100 each, including shipping within the contiguous U.S. (ie: NOT Alaska, Hawaii or anywhere else in the world - contact me for specifics). If you've been waiting for a good deal on these, now is the time to grab one.
2. I found a stash of USED 3" HAPP trackball units behind a shelving unit. I have 5 of them, they are cosmetically sound, though the balls need a GOOD cleaning. Mechnically, I have not opened these up to determine their state of function, though the balls do roll freely. Each trackball unit is complete with WHITE ball, both optic boards AND the wire harness. No cracks, breaks or damage to any of the shells. HAPP sells these new for around $90 each. I'm asking $20 each plus shipping($8 in contiguous U.S.), take them as-is.
3. I recently bought out a stock of Cinematronics/Keltron flyback transformers which are used in a bunch of Cinematronics games. I'm asking $25 each (plus shipping which is $8 in contiguous U.S.) for these bad boys. I belive I have 16 of them left.
So, that's it for today. If you want any of the above, let me know via direct email (daviea@ca.rr.com). I accept paypal at sales@ram-controls.com.

...makes me wish I had a Major Havoc machine. ;D

Makes me consider building one.

I'm getting one just in case...

Makes me consider building one.
You're gonna need one for that VectorMAME you wanna build. I'm sure getting one.
-
Of course you are.
I bought one, so you HAVE to.

Of course you are.
I bought one, so you HAVE to.
Once I have one of everything, I will stop, I swear.
-
Are the MH rollers from your first production run the same as they were in the second and third? If so, why are you selling them half off?
If they are the same and not a practice run or something you can put me down for one.
-
Daviea
would you accept overseas commands ??
if yes can you provide an estimation for shipping a trackball to Paris france ?
thank's

Hard to argue. Going with a spinner for that does save a single game CP and it can be said there were more MH out there with spinners than with rollers, though.
-
I ordered one. I'm gonna' build module 12 with this and the Groovygamegears usb optic board!.....PROFIT.
-
Just thought I'd reply to this post and let you all know that David at Ram replied to my email asking him the same question I asked in this topic which was basically these aren't inferior in any way to the ones he'll be selling tomorrow when they're all gone for $200.
He has assured me that they are the same thing, made the same way with the same parts and are just what he said, held back from the first run.
I am still a little confused as to why someone would have a FIFO (first in first out) type of policy on a non perishable thing such as these especially enough to discount them by 50% but I have ordered mine and expect that it will be awesome.
 to David and everything he is doing with Ram-Controls!
-
Hey man, I paid weeks ago and still no roller, any updates?
-
same here....I sent him an email.
-
This plus delays and no updates on the Star Wars yoke...
I hope we all haven't wasted our money...
:dunno
-
Hey Guys,
I'm really sorry about the delay. I had to leave town for almost two weeks to take care of an existing contract (one of those "available 24/7 deals"). Anyhow, while I was gone, my business parter was supposed to take care of existing shipments for me. However, when I got back in town (which was on Friday), I realized that only a couple of smaller orders were shipped. I'll take care of it today and have your goodies shipped. Again, I'm so sorry about the delay.
Thanks everyone.
David
P.S. I'll have updates on the SW Yoke very soon. I need to assemble my information, pics, etc.
-
Anyone get anything yet?
-
Anyone get anything yet?
Nope. I wouldn't get too concerned yet though as I haven't heard and bad things being said about Dave or Ram Controls.
Dave said "I'll take care of it today" on the 18th. It has only been 11 days now and seeing as though the items being sold in this thread were at a substantial discount with shipping included, I doubt they were sent via Next Day Air. Give it another week...
-
Fair enough. Dave has sent me a personal email awhile ago telling me his partner was suppose to mail it out but didn't and he would.
Just checking around to see if anyone had gotten theirs yet. Not pulling the alarm bells yet.
-
Agreed...but I am getting concerned with David.
To date, I've paid him $300 with nothing to show for it......I ordered/paid for the yoke ($200) on 2/14 (over 4 months ago).
David, you sent me an email telling me it (the Havok controller @ $100) will ship soon......(over 1.5 weeks ago)....could you at least start giving us tracking numbers?
I am keeping the faith....but I am getting antsy as I told you via a direct email already. You mentioned that the website will be updated with info (it hasn't been updated since 5/22).
I would like to believe this is just the result of this being a side business....but as I mentioned to you, you really have to either communicate with us better and SHIP your products or maybe start refunding some money until your delays get worked out.
I appreciate your emails, but I would prefer some product shipped at this point.
If you wish, PM or email me directly (you know how to reach me).
Thanks.

bump. :hissy:

I wonder if this wasn't a scam by a third party. It wouldn't be hard to set up a paypal account like this... though, if it is a third party, I would think the actual manufacturer would be telling us that by now.
-
...I would highly doubt a 3rd party is involved. Let's see what David has to say....other than "they will ship soon".
I want to see tracking numbers today....
I sent him a very direct email this morning detailing what I expect to happen in the next 48 hours.
As of today, between my brother and I we're in for $500.....and I still have nothing to show for it.
Next step--- I involve AMEX and PayPal. :banghead:

He hasn't replied to me either. I guess it may be time to hit up Paypal and then dispute the charges. Urgh, this never ends well for the buyer...
But still, I'm going to give him until the end of the day.
-
And if it has to go that way it also possibly ends what were some of the most promising pieces of repro arcade hardware we've seen to date. A LOT of people have been drooling over repro Star Wars yokes for a LONG time.
-
I got a response from him today that is satisfactory to me.
I suggest that anyone who has paid for something or still has not received shipment yet should contact him directly and work it out with him.
I will update this thread with the progress or lack there of over the next few days of my dealings through for sure.
:-\

You don't just show up on an arcade board looking to move some "first run" stuff for very low prices, then disappear without shipping the goods. Then come on and say "it was my buddies fault" and then disappear AGAIN without shipping the goods. I've heard nothing but good about the ramcontrols guy, but this thread definitely smells funny. This whole situation sounds eerily familiar...
Here's to hoping this is all just a misunderstanding and will be calmly resolved.

...very much agreed!!!! ;D

Hey Everyone,
Sorry for the delay in response. I've been removing my partner from the business and changing over everything related to RAM Controls into my name only: new server, new email, new bank account, new ups account, new business location, new everything. Due to this, I have had limited access to both web server as well as email access has been an issue. Ultimately, this is all MY fault and I do accept full responsibility for it. Please accept my apologies for this lack of less than excellent service lately. It's very unlike me and not indicative of my usual business habits.
Mamemaster, you were aware of most if not all of the above through direct emailing, so I expected a little extra slack from you. Maybe that expectation was misplaced, but I explained things to you because I wanted you to understand fully what was happening. I also figured you would pass the word along since you came to me as what clearly seemed like a representative to the BYOAC community. However, you did not. Instead you've been firing at me on this forum, which I guess I can understand to some degree. As a buyer, I can feel where you're coming from, but given my excellent history with everyone on BYOAC and the fact that I gave you additional information on top of that which will adequately explains my current situation, you have continued to press on. I feel that you've gone over the top. Please don't misunderstand, though. I am happy to give you and anyone else a refund on the SW yoke preorder if they wish. I even have a mention on this in my project blog at some point in the updates. All you have to do is tell me.
I cannot post any updates to the website yet as it's still in flux as far as access to it's server. I will tell everyone, however, that we're extremely close. If you can wait a little longer, it will be worth the wait. If further wait isn't good enough for you, contact me directly and I will arrange a full refund for you. No worries.
Regarding the recent MH rollers and rebuild kits I put up for sale. Everything involved with shipping those is apparently wrapped up in this changeover at RAM Controls. I intend to remedy that issue TODAY and provide tracking upon request. Without going into too many details, let's just say that the changeover has not been very smooth. Not in the least.
Ok, that's it for now. If you need anything else, please contact me directly.
Thanks everyone.

Thanks David.
For me, the money is not a great amount so I am willing to wait this out. RAM Controls has done good work in the past and I'm going to go with that.
I will post when I do get the items so others can see the progress.
-
I appreciate your response and to explain my actions, you did agree via an email that I received on 6/18/07 that "everything will ship today".
I understand your business issues, but I think that considering that I originally placed the order for the Havoc controller on 6/1/07....and today is 7/2/07; that I've been more than fair in holding back from saying anything publically regardless of our email interaction.
I really appreciate your emails and very complex explainations, but I believe that I have been more than patient considering that I have given you a lot of money to date.
It's also important to note that I also emailed you one last time this past Friday, 6/29. When I got no response to that email I posted this. The thing that set me off was the fact that I had paid another $100 for that Havoc controller and still have not receive it as noted above.
As far as I am concerned, upon the refund and receipt of the SW yoke $$ for myself and my brother we are squared away and up to date and this should be my last post on this topic.
When the yokes are finished and ready for shipping I am still very much interested in buying them. I look forward to receiving the Havoc controller soon as agreed as well until then.
Thanks.

Hi guys,
Thanks Mamemaster. I appreciate the response. I know that this all boils down to being my fault. I accept that and can't apologize enough for it. I'm glad you took the time to explain yourself a little better, too. While I wasn't really upset about it because I understand that business is just business, I had felt that you had gone behind my back and smacked me around. :-) No worries, man. I'm pretty worked up over this whole change of ownership deal, so I probably let my imagination get the better of me.
Anyhow, thanks for the response. We'll talk soon.

"Upon request"; I think it's safe to say we all want a tracking# at this point. Consider this my official request. I'll be posting my tracking# in this thread for everybody. My order is the one originating from chuck_l_knutz at yahoo dot com.
Thanks,
-Rich

This should be standard practice for anything as expensive as these devices are, especially the yokes. I haven't purchased anything from Dave but I would require a tracking number once a package is shipped. Dave, now that you are sole owner this would be something that you should put in as standard practice, not "on request". I supply tracking numbers on everything that I ship without being asked.
TTFN

David-
Got my tracking#, thanks!
For interested parties, it's a UPS #: 1Z4751AV0340960051
It usually only takes two days for shipments to reach me from SoCal, so I should have roller in hand Wednesday or Thursday at the outside.
-
Thanks Kremmit,
You should have your goods in the next day or three. :-)
Kaytrim, providing tracking has always been a priority for me, however I know I have strayed from this over the last month or so due to an excessively touchy and volatile situation. I figure since 80% of the firm is back into my control (with the one exception of the domain and web hosting - which should be resolved within a week or so), things will get back on track again. It's been trying times for me! Looks like I'm out of the woods for the most part.
Just keep an eye on the website for updates. If I can just get my server access issue resolved, I can upload some serious updates.
I believe I have provided tracking to anyone and everyone involved on BYOAC. If you have not received an email from me, contact me ASAP.
Talk to you later guys.
David

Am I safe in assuming that all orders have shipped, regardless of whether we received a tracking number?
If not, please check into mine.
-
David,
Just emailed you because I didn't receive a tracking #. Seeing as though you're having computer access problems I figured I'd post here in case you don't receive my email.
my order was placed with my screen name at comcast.net
-
NoOne=NBA= and Crashwg, I just contacted both of you and sent tracking numbers along. Anyone else?
Thanks guys
David

ArcadeMaze,
Check your PM for the tracking.
David
-
David,
While you are cleaning up, could you respond to one of my 2 PM's concerning the Cinematronics flybacks?
Thanks!
-
Nostrebor,
All of the flybacks sold. In fact, everything I listed for sale was sold. Sorry.
Which reminds me, what's the policy on BYOAC for shutting down a thread once an items is sold and no longer available?
Thanks
David

Change the title to reflect it.
-
Hey, thanks for the tip. Just changed the title to reflect that it was all sold.

It's here!
UPS dude dropped it less than 5 minutes ago. Aside from being flaming hot to the touch (it's 112 here today and those brown trucks get a might warm inside), the thing is perfect. I can't really do much more than snap a quick pic and make this post as I'm supposed to be making dinner right now, so here's whatcha get:
(And thanks David!)
-
Awesome!
So, we might actually get our Star Wars yokes!
;D
-
It's here!
so here's whatcha get:
Boy that was really nice of him to throw in 3 mice, an iPod, and the little robotron guy. ;)

Heh. I should have gotten a better pic of the two little plastic bags next to the roller, as those actually WERE included. One bag of mounting hardware- 4 black 3/4" carriage bolts and 4 lock-nuts. The other bag has two spare lightbulbs, in addition to the one that was already installed under the roller. Nice accessory package- not as nice as an iPod, 3 mice and a wind-up robot, but nice nonetheless. ;)
-
Got mine too.
Absolutely awesome repro.
Everything is exactly as I remember it--right down to the annoying finger pinch when you try to stop the roller.
-
You two must live a bit closer to California than I do out here in New Hampshire... UPS tracking says 7/10 for the delivery. :(
-
He's in CA, and I'm in WA, so yep, but just by a bit. ;D
