It all started about two summers ago when I bought an empty cab for about $30 from mark at basementarcade.com (http://basementarcade.com). When I bought it, it looked like this:

So, I picked the cab up and started work, I stripped down what I believed to be a track and field cabinet, but soon found out when the artwork underneath was revealed, that it was in fact a game called Roller Jammer

The artwork was damaged and wasn't exactly what I was going for, so I peeled that off and proceed to prime and paint the melamine surface. I found out a few days later I had not used the correct primer when dozens of scratches appeared. This was a major setback as I'd have to restrip and repaint the entire cab. This is something I wanted to put off, so I began ordering parts and soon I built a control panel, installed a coin door, put the monitor in, and had a fully functioning mame cab. Work halted here as I was able to play games and didn't really feel like doing anything else. Until finally last summer I completely disassemble the beast and brought it down to the basement. I stripped the paint, and began some serious bondo work. Bondo is not fun, I applied too much and had to sand for what seemed like hours. Work stopped again when I went to college and didn't have much time to work on the cab, so the machine never made it to the dorm room. Another setback came when I went to upgrade the pc I had mamewah running on, the hard drive became completley corrupt and ununusable and I lost all of my roms, settings, and about 10 gigs of music. Yet another setback came when I was moving the 17 inch PC monitor I had mounted inside the cab, I slipped and "set" it down on its back and heard the infamous release of air.
So now summer is here again and I plan to take another shot at the MAME cab, I figured if I posted about it here I'd be more inclined to work on it. I have a new PC, hard drive, 21 inch monitor, and the proper primer.
The plan of action goes as follows:
Finish bondo
Prime
Paint
Some sort of sideart
Reassemble cab
Redo control panel
Mount monitor
Order T-molding and Marquee
Everything else
The marquee I plan to use was designed by BlinKY1337 and looks like this:

So thats the plan, more pics to come.

Nice. Looks like an old Track & Field or Hyper Sports cab. I love those cabs, so sturdy and stout. Should make for a nice project.
