Title: New Cabinet
Post by: Miller on May 29, 2007, 07:58:55 pm
Hi all after wanting to have my own Mame cabinet for some time i luckily came across a Sega swing cabinet with Tekken 4 inside for next to nothing so i bought it with the intention of using it as a Mame cabinet.
The game kept crashing due to a the original PSU being faulty and is now running off a PC PSU but its still crashing possibly now due to not enough power coming in (was told off a friend who does work for the guy who i bought it off). Anyway i have yet to test it with a proper power supply so still not sure if the system 246 board is knackered or not.

I have read up a bit on how to convert the cabinet to Mame and from what i can understand i will be needing a ArcadeVGA for the monitor and a J-PAC for the controls if i decided to use the Jamma board that's already inside, which as far as i can tell is the best way to do the controls.

I was also wondering if i decide to keep the 246 board with Tekken (if it works) will it just be a case of swopping the Jamma connections between Mame and tekken 4 to play both systems?.
Any help is appreciated.

My 246 came with a JVS to JAMMA adapter but if your's didnt look for a namco JVS 2 JAMMA adapter (Cyberlead) or a CAPCOM JVS/JAMMA I/O and you'll be set.

Google CAPCOM NAOMI JAMMA and you should be able to find details on the CAPCOM I/O.

Here's a pic of the NAMCO to help put things in perspective.

Hi sorry the reply was late been away.
I really confused as to what i need now so here is a list of what i have and the problems.
1. Full Sega swing cabinet monitor and all.
2. System 246 with tekken 4 and a Namco JAMMA B PCB System 246.
3. PC power supply as old one was no good.
Tekken 4 keeps freezing i was told it was the power supply but have not tried another as it`s in bits being resprayed at the moment, any ideas on why it`s freezing or what power supply i need?.
The monitor is not great and starting to shrink at the top and bottom with lines running across the top, any ideas what needs to be replaced as i want to have a go at repairing the monitor myself.
I am trying to work out what i need to run MAME and Tekken 4, i was thinking i just needed a J-PAC and ARCADE-VGA for MAME then hook it all up and if i wanted to play Tekken 4 then i just have to swap back to the JAMMA B PCB 246.
I'm new to this and sorry for all the questions but any help is appreciated.

Maybe the wiki is a good place to start (thought things aren't always where one might think they are).
