What I want to do is I have a friend that works some where were they make bocks of clear acrylic. I have these little figures of Mario and etc and he's going to pour the acrylic on them so the Mario stays in the middle. I want to find someone that can lathe them into joystick handles so i can have little Mario's and Luigi's in the handle. And if anyone else wants some I'm pretty sure we can work out a deal.

no experience but a suggestion,
is it worth trying to cast it as a ball and just polishing it as opposed to machining it from a square. must be possible to make a mold around a pool ball? or something similar.
