Have a pc with s-video but tv only has rca plugs. I have an s-video to rca adapter to attach the two together. This worked great for weeks and now when I start up the system the tv shows the Windows Boot screen and then nothing. When I hook up a monitor the system is up and running fine.
Anyone got any ideas? If I need to give specifics I will be more than happy to.
Thanks

The Windows boot screen that is being shown is a low resolution image. Sounds like your desktop may have been switched to a higher resolution the TV can't support.
Is your resolution set to 640x480?

No actually it's 800x600.

Make it 640x480 or 640x432 if possible.

I really do not know about such stuff ... but would setting the Hertz setting be required as well. Possible make sure the NTSC(usa)/PAL(europe) setting is correct as well?

Make sure your s-video to rca adapter is working (sounds like it is).
Double check your hook up's (been there done that :) )
Check in the Video card properties (I can only speak for Nvidia) they have an option to 'force' TV output. There might be one in the your BIOS also...

If you don't have 640x480 in the options (some newer video card drivers default to 800x600), click the advanced options tab and then the Show All Resolutions box.
800x600 would not display properly on my Toshiba TV.

That's what I'm guessing it is. I've run into similar things and most of the time it's because it's turned off in the video settings. Look around in the advanced video preferences and you should find someplace that you can adjust the TV settings, including turning it on and forcing it to clone the main display, instead of using it as an extended desktop.

I thought it was obvious that his problem was his desktop res was off.
