Post by: eclypse on May 23, 2007, 10:36:09 am

I just kind of made my own brackets..

The monitor ships with 2 big metal brackets at the top and bottom.
(I think all arcade monitors have this)

I built a little wood "bench" that the monitor sits on, that raises the monitor to the dead center of my monitor opening in my cab.

Then I just bought some screws to drill the screws right thru the screw holes on the bracket of the monitor into the wood bench.

It might not be as beautiful as the Slik Stik brackets, but the wood + screws cost me about 3 bucks, and no shipping since I picked them up at Home Depot on my way home from work  ;)

Besides, when you put on a Bezel, the Slik Stik brackets/my wood bench are hidden anyway.

hehe wish i would of known that was possable before.. Slik Stik got back to me and said that the guy that makes them should have them in early next week. So i might hold out for them.

Prob would still be alot easier your way as i'm sure i'll have a hell of a time figuring out where to mount the brackets and measure it all out perfectly..

But i feel another topic coming on shortly which will be me asking about "how in the hell do i get the 25" monitor out of the KI II cab?? lol

I think i should wear some kind of filter mask for the next 2 weeks as i work on the cab to fit the new monitor and control panel.. theres gona be some serious F bombs and other choice 4 letter words coming out of my mouth! No need to teach my 2 year old daughter that repeats everything you say a new volcabulary! LOL  :timebomb: :timebomb: :timebomb:

I did exactly what Scottk did too as I have a load bearing monitor shelf in my cab.  I wanted the weight to rest on the shelf, not on screws through the sides of the cab.  I built a little wooden stand out of 2x4s which the monitor is screwed into and the whole assembly is fitted to the shelf.  Spending $50 on metal brackets just seemed silly.

I thought most people just fixed wood runners that the monitor would attach to.

Wont you have more bolt holes going through the side panels to attach this shelf? And wood would bow over time as well i would think.

Exactly, I already have the shelf supported via bolts through the sides.  I didn't want to add 8 more holes.  If I didn't have the shelf, I would have considered using brackets though.  But since I already had it, I didn't want to drill more holes in the cabinet sides.

Also, the shelf is reinforced with 2x4s so it's not going to bow.

How exactly did you affix the whole assembly to the shelf. Looking at design specs, it looks like the bolt holes on most monitor chassis are underneath where the PCB is mounted. Did you temporarily remove the PCB, bolt the chassis to the shelf, and then reattach the PCB?

To attach the monitor to my assembly, I used the bottom three mounting holes on the monitor frame and attached with 3 big wood screws/washers.  I then lifted the entire assembly onto the shelf and secured it down with angle brackets.  I then ran a strip of wood across the top of the monitor and attached to the insides of the cabinet with angle brackets and then screwed the top of the monitor into that.  The strip on top doesn't really bear any weight, it just keeps the monitor sturdy.
