I'm using a happ kiosk audio amp and 2 happ speakers (8 ohms) in my arcade cabinet and the sound is complete crap, really scratchy and staticy, it almost sounds like what you would get if a speaker was blown. I've just for the first time connected these speakers to this amp but the amp has worked fine in the past and the speakers are brand new. Any ideas what the problem could be?

I guess i should try and troubleshoot first so i'll try some pc speakers to make sure its not the sound card or the pc and then try my cab speakers plugged into my stereo to make sure its not the speakers. that should leave the happ amp which i suspect is the problem.

ok so i tested everything and the happ amp works fine and the PC is putting out the sound fine. its the happ speakers that are the problem, what are the chances of getting sent 2 faulty speakers from happ, I mean it's the only thing i can think of now. Does this happen very often and will they replace them?

Try the speakers on your stereo in that case, see how they go there.

its definately the speakers, somehow i didnt notice that they had beeen slightly crushed during their trip from the US to New Zealand, I have emailed Happ for replacements.

Just an update on this:
Happ have not responded after 2 emails and some weeks so screw them.
I ended up purchasing 2 Aiwa speakers from TradeMe (our version of ebay) for $20. They are 8 ohm 30w shielded speakers and they sound amazing.
I am really starting to lose faith with Happ and will only be using them as a last resort in the future.
