now this proved a point i was walking back frum 'an'am (Han-Ham) common and a woman in a car pull in and asked for directions in proper english and i looked at her blank and had to convert what she was saying in my head before i could answer her ! to which i sed "go down 'der and it be on yer left !" of course i go of sed "go down younder" but i thought taht was not a apropriarte answer !

are there any other people taht have got a blank look from a bristolian or are a member of bristel and have to think about what there being asked

yeh!

i think its with in our culture to entertain!

i do enjoy chatting as bristle as i can in school, it anoy's the teachers and makes all my mates have a little laugh!

off topic here but 'What do you think makes you british'

i think

when i came into school pround it was St. Georges day our Patriot St. i was astonished to find that when i asked my friend what day it was he said "i dunno 'Earth day' "!!! and then when i said umm no its St. Georges Day he said " oh WOW its Sausage Day tomorrow !

kids today have no idea what it is to be British.

I am proud and always will be infact i have gone a bit extreme its work experience soon and i have taken it apon my self to get a nice black suit with : a Union Jack waistcoat, Tie, Cufflinks, Belt buckel and wallet !

being british is 1st about being proud and 2ndly about self cattering. only this saturday i was on the old Viking sewing machine altering my shirts for the cufflinks.

Britain has forgot how to be British, kids are being taught how bad this country is and not what it has done for the better.

Our goverment has caused this and like another poster on this site i say get someone with actual knowledge about this country in there so we can move forward.
__________________________________________________

infact im a bit made like this (bit of a waffle now)

i am always in football shirts and then if i feel like it my IRN-BRU jacket! Brilliant Orange and Blue ! although recently i have put it to the back of the cupboard since i was fretended in town my some black guy with with a so say knife in his pocket ! why i dunno but my cusin was with me and we got out of it!

OR

im walking about in a suit with Union Jack accessories !

but in my mind if you want to make a point why not ! i mean the IRN-BRU jacket was £80

what do you do to show how proud you are of Britain??????????

 :soapbox: :soapbox: :soapbox:

fairplay dave youre a real character, not many of your age think that much i would say at all, let alone about britishness.
afraid to say though im probably one who slags it off more, we've done good things but others paid the price.
brunel for example, a right bastard by all accounts, he didnt give a ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- how many people died to build his stuff.
also the welsh bit comes into play, we dont like the union jack as it doesnt have any of our flag on it like it does the other countries.
ill tell you a story about st george the dragonslayer of england.
he wasnt english, wasnt called george and didnt kill any dragons
its cool though that you think about your saints day, its a shame that only st patricks day is celebrated because of guinness , it would be nice to think we came together as a society if only for just one day a year.
