For those of you with a Ps2/Xbox, this is a killer deal. Only good today of course since it's woot:

-
Is that force feedback or just self centering? It may be worth it just for the parts if it has reasonable feedback.
EDIT: a decent review (http://www.speedseat.co.uk/product_detail.aspx?prodid=48)
-
Hmmm, the review says no force feedback, but woot says "Dual force vibration". I guess I'll find out soon.
EDIT: another review: http://www.rbmods.com/Articles/Geeks/Gamestar_racing_pac/1.php

The Xbox controller is dual force vibration.
Consensus seems to be that if you're not a kid and if you play more than occasionally, this thing isn't good.

Racing seat, wheels, pedals - $34.99 shipped on woot.com today! (http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade_main.php#2394)

This is a great deal..... I just wanted to point out that since it's xbox compatable, it already works on the pc, so it'd be great for a mame cab. Also it's a wheel so it already has pots, making it great for a yoke hack.
-
Someone also pointed out the positioning of the pedals. The steering wheel is in the middle, making if very awkward to use the brake and gas with one foot.
-
In for one.
Gonna try Burnout first, then see how Outrun in MAME likes it.

Correct me if I am wrong...I don't own ANY console...but isn't the XBox 360 compatible with PC not the original XBox? I thought the Xbox controller had a round plug in?

The 360 wired can connect via USB. The 360 wireless can connect via the MS Wireless receiver.
The regular XBox can connect if you do this:

Well imho the 360 is LESS pc compatible than the classic xbox. In order to use the wireless pads you have to buy a 50 dollar adaptor, which is insaine, I don't care what anybody says. On the other hand you can connect ANY classic xbox pad, even wireless ones, with a simple 5 dollar cable (or make your own).

Where do you get your info? The adaptor is $19.99. ::)

They sell one item a day. The only day you could have got this was yesterday. Now they have a new item (Uniden phone) for all day today.

My apologies... it's 19 bucks for the ADAPTOR but the controller is 50 bucks. With tax and total of around 80- dollars for a controller. This is opposed to 25 bucks or less(actually I'm being generous, it's far less these days) for a xbox controller and 5 bucks to free for a cable. So you are saving around 50 bucks by using classic parts and using a 360 controller as a base costs you 50 bucks more than any other controller option out there. THAT is the insaine part.

Or just buy a wired 360 controller and plug it directly into the PC with no adapter required...

Well, it all depends on your perspective.
If someone already owns a 360, then $20 for an adapter could be a good deal; cheap and painless (though the driver still needs to be improved). It all sorta depends on what you already own, and what you want in the end.
(Bought three 360 wireless controllers at a one-day sale for $20/ea. ;D)

Quickie review:
<ul>
<li>Compact: when you're done with it, it folds away nicely into a backpack-size package for storage.
<li>Adjustable: There are enough adjustments to fit most any person, for both the steering wheel and pedals.
<li>Inputs: All buttons on both the PS2 and Xbox are mapped. And for those who just like to leadfoot it all the way through a race, there's even a "cruise control" button ::) For the steering wheel, there is a sensitivity adjustment, which works VERY well.
<li>Durability/Feel: "Plastic-y." I don't think I could bust the thing during normal gameplay, but it doesn't have that "arcade feel."
<li>Compatibility: to date, only tested it with Outrun 2006 so far, but it works as expected.
<li>Value: for the price, I'd say it's worth the purchase. If I had paid full price for this when it first came out, though, I'd be a little pissed.
</ul>
In the end, it's not going to work out for me (I'm a pretty big guy...6'5"...285), but my kids love it. My daughter finally made it to the goal for her first time, so she loves it ;D
-
Yep I concur with MR.Do; worth $35, but not more. I don't know how much abuse the pedals are going to take; they seem very flimsy. But a fun toy and cool that you don't have to clamp it on to a table.

Mine came in today. It's a decent wheel as-is but it's a hackers dream.
First off, the wheel itself comes off at the hub for storage. The wheel is completely self-contained, even the pot for steering is on the hub connector, so putting this wheel on a permenant mount would be as easy as unscrewing the hub on the tri-pod end and screwing it to a pole mounted to a cab/whatever. Also the connector between the wheel and pedals is a good old vga connector.... so it'd be insainely easy to get rid of those pedals nobody seems to care for and just hook up a regular set. The xbox memory card slot is on the tripod, meaning it goes through the vga connector, meaning you could wire up a usb hub instead! So once hacked you have a good place to plug in external shifters or what not.
The self-contained wheel also brings in the interesting possiblily of multiple wheels. What came to mind to me immediately is that one could buy a second wheel.... hack into the analog out on the vga connector to get another axis, and make a removeable star wars yoke! A spy hunter wheel... ect would also be possible as well as a flight yoke or whatever. The hub connector is rather generic, so an enterprising person could probably make their own connectors and not have to buy multiple wheels to make other add-ons. They'd still need "guts" though as those are in the main wheel.
The dual rumble motors are positioned well. Although it isn't true ff, it actuall feels quite similar due to the way the motors were mounted (they make steering difficult, just like a m$ ff wheel does). The motors are also built into the wheel itself, meaning your hack will have ff support! I haven't tested it yet, but "wheel" ff profiles should work well on this in windows.
The pedals are not rigid, but rather have a joint where they connect to the arm. This is a good thing because when you go to hack, you can mount them upside down, remove the little plastic pedal, put a real car pedal on a piano hinge, and it'll work with these arms. That one is a tad hard to explain, but if you understand how car pedals work and look at this then it makes sense.
My only real complaint is the wheel itself is a tad on the small side, that can be fixed though by transferring to a different housing.

I just got mine... it's insainely good for hacking (not sure why anyone doesn't comment on that since it's obvious, at least to me, that hardcore gamers like us are only gonna want this for hacking purposes).

p.s. It's confusing that this has two threads, maybe they should be merged?
