Title: Is $600 for a new King Koil mattress a good deal? (king sized)
Post by: Stobe on May 16, 2007, 10:49:17 am
We've got a furniture store going out of business, and they are liquidating everything.  The sales guy says they've sold 150 sets of these King Koil mattresses in the last week.  I personally think ALL furniture is over priced, but I was wondering if anyone could make me feel better about spending $600 for this mattress?

Its a pillowtop, its brand new, and it comes with the boxspring set also.

Thanks for any insight.

King sized anything is very expensive.  Good deal.

$600 for a pillowtop King sized mattress and box spring is a very good deal. I haven't heard of the King Koil brand before. Is that just a model made by one of the big manufacturers (Sealy, Serta, etc.)?

Oh, and by the way - my brother in law paid like $3000 for his King sized pillowtop mattress and box spring. $1500 is usually considered cheap.

$3000 is for the premium ones... you can get regular king sized, the type without spiffy labels and a skeezy sales guy, for the $1500 range regularly in our area.

Thanks guys.  I feel much better now.

King Koil is a brand.  From what I've heard it on par with the big S's (Sealy, SImmons, Serta), just doesn't have the higher price tag.

I have a buddy that manages a mattress store. He gave me a deal on a King sized pillow-top King Koil (likely the same model you got) for $700. It is the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on.

I need to find friends like that.  That stuff never happens for me.
