Title: Well I think I need a new monitor at this point :( info inside
Post by: Frankiebonez on May 16, 2007, 10:33:43 am
So I have had issues with colors dropping out in my monitor.  I had a tech look at it for me, and then pulled the chassis and sent it to Betson Enterprises to have them check it out.  They said nothing is wrong with the chassis.  So, at this point is there anything else that I could find that could cause the problem I'm having?  Here is a link to my other thread about whats going on:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=64519.msg646067#msg646067

For ease of reference the monitor is a Sharp 33" KTM-F33.

If I cant fix this thing, anyone that can reccomend a cheap good new 33" monitor would be excellent.  I'll buy one in the near future if I cant fix this problem.

Thanks for any help. :)

There are no cheap large monitors.

If you want to a new 33" then try Nieman Displays.

If there is nothing wrong with the chassis, it must be a tube issue.  Colors disappear altogether, but come back?

So sounds like you have been thru the route of rejuving the tube.

Help me ou is the monitor a standard res, or mid-res.

What is the application you are using it in.

If you have a standard res application, I have tubes and everything in stock to build you one.

Let me know and I will try to help.

Post here or for faster response e-mail me direct.

yes this is what happens.  It will come back if I kind of "force it on".  Example:  If the blue primary color drops out, I will go to the test screen and select the blue test screen.  A second after teh screen is selected the color will pop back on and I'm good for at least a few minutes, maybe a few hours, maybe a day, maybe 1 minute.... it totally varies.  And, its not heat related as far as I can tell.  Happens sometimes when i turn the machine on for the first time of the day when its cool.

The resolution is 15K... as per a website I found the info on about the tube (Zax amusement listed in the FAQ).  I'm unsure if thats standard resolution or not.

I have no rejuvanated the tube because I dont have access to a rejuvenator, nor do I know of someone with one :( .

The application I am using it on is a custom cabinet with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

So let me know by e-mailing me where you are. If you are interested in a new monitor I will get a freight quote.

If in the USA, then let me know if you have access to a loading doc somewhere or could P/U at a local freight terminal, this will save $$$

Good Luck
