Title: Help with dead monitor
Post by: sfrascella on May 15, 2007, 09:32:35 pm
I was playing a few games the other day and left the room for a few minutes. When I came back my G07 was dark, and the room had a smell that reminded me of being behind a truck that was hard on the brakes going downhill if that makes any sense.

It also had a slight wave in the picture before it died.

Any thoughts on where to start here?

Thanks

order the repair kit for it...

flyback
capkit
hot...

its around 26 bucks from bob roberts...

http://therealbobroberts.net/parts.html#flyback

one thing... your will want to short the 1.25 amp fuse... when the flyback goes it blows this fuse and it keeps a really big charge behind it.... so discharge the fuse to the chassis... and get ready for a big pop!!  hit both sides just to be sure...

The large filter cap in the primary circuit dried up, look for a bulge on the top. After that killed the regulator and blew the fuse.

I am not normally a fan of cap kits- I call them a shotgun approach- but when the board is this old---> do it.
