Title: small happ super joystick question
Post by: rehp on May 14, 2007, 10:02:15 pm
I have a happ joystick mounted into a wood box.  Joystick is connected to an i-pac.  All the buttons in the box work and the joystick mostly works.  Problem is going to the right doesn't work very well.  It sticks sometimes and won't go right.  Looking at the underside of the joystick what it looks like to me is that the snap switch is too close to the joystick so that sometimes it gets stuck going to the right or doesn't go right because the snap switch is already pressed.  I'm nervous about messing with it but would you advise bending the straight actuator on the snap switch?  I was also thinking maybe the screw holes for mounting the snap switch aren't exactly right and that's what causes the right snap switch to go off early.  Could the problem be something else? (like the i-pac)  Any help is appreciated, thx

Did you install the bottom actuator peice? Is the metal joystick base pushing the metal switch?

Are you sure that some wires are not getting in the way?

Also, have you switched around the microswitches on the joystick?

I don't see any wires in the way,  I tried a different snap switch and got the same problem.  it's almost like the holes for that switch were drilled wrong but it worked ok for months so idunno =/

Take the stick apart and put it back together. Maybe something is catching.  :dunno

fairly certain it isn't a problem with the i-pac?  I had a problem with the ps2 cord and was thinking maybe i shorted it out once, could that be my problem?

It could be, but in your first post you described the fact that the microswitch seemed to be acting funny/ getting stuck.
