I want to make a custom list for mamewah which will be 'all time classics' and i want to keep it to around 100 games (maybe 110 at a pinch). This is what I have so far. Things like Metal Slug will have all the games of course but can you think of anything obvious that I have missed or games you think I should leave out? I checked the KLOV top 100 but as far as I'm concerned it's a load of poop. Stargate and Defender aren't in because of the control panel layout, I'm going to have to build a dedicated CP for them. Cheers.

Tron
Defender/Stargate
Congo Bongo
Kung Fu
Just to name a few..... My top 100 would look nothing like yours. Would be no MK's at all....Mostly would be between 78-85 with maybe a Cruis'n or Area 51 thrown in....
-
What I see missing right off the top of my head is: Mario Bros, Zoo Keeper, Golden Tee, Shuffleshot, World Class Bowling, and if you like track and field, you'll love hypersports.
But I can't help but wonder what kind of CP you have. You have lots of games there listed that use different controls. Karate Champ uses dual 4 ways, Pole position wants spinner
-
thanks guys
my cp has 2 t-stick plus joys, 6 buttons per player, trackball and spinner.
I didn't include things like tron or star wars because of the controls.
-
Birdie King, Punch Out, Kung Fu
-
Star Wars can be played with a trackball and Tron can be played witha joy and a spinner as long as a button is nearby.
Forgotten Worlds is also playable with a nearby button
-
Crazy Climber
Asteroids
Gravitar
Star Castle
Space Duel
Space Fury
Venture
Wizard of Wor
Quantum
Star Trek
Major Havoc
-
oh man how could i not put asteroids and crazy climber in there, thanks
-
You can add these games to the list:
Bank Panic
Burnin' Rubber
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
Dungeons and Dragons
Green Beret
Jungle King
Quartet
Neo Geo Drift Out
Neo Geo Over Top
Bank Panic is one of my favourite games ever. I'd play it on cocktail at my university bar with my best friend. As the schooners of beer went down, (forget about the oxymoron of drinking beer at a cocktail table) our playing ability initially improved before starting to slide irrecoverably ..... it really keeps you on your toes!
-
Asteroids Deluxe
Battlezone
Crazy Kong (superior to Donkey Kong)
Do Donapachi
Mr. Do! (you should be whipped for not having this classic)
Lady Bug (great game once you understand how to play it)
Polaris
Pooyan
Shuttle Invader (best ever space invaders type game)
-
Strider!
IMO the best street fighter is SFII champion edition, but that's preference.
Looks like most of the rest are covered by yourself or others.
-
Crazy Kong (superior to Donkey Kong)
This was a joke right? Not funny.
-
Millipede
Mappy
Omega Race
Vanguard
Venture
Wizard of War
-
Does this have to be just Mame-supported arcade games?
Because I also really like:
[zinc]
Soul Edge
Cool Boarders Arcade Jam
Rival Schools
[Daphne]
Dragon's Lair I/II & Space Ace
And I forgot Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon [mame], which is my four-year old daughter's favourite. Don't tell her mummy because she can't play fighting games! She doesn't actually play it anyway, just likes the demos really. This Sailor Moon game is also mentioned in the first video of the TV series.
-
Crazy Kong (superior to Donkey Kong)
This was a joke right? Not funny.
No joke, deadly serious, superior in every detail except the name.
