Well I started working in the back are of my rec room, building my bar area.
I have the back bar installed (mostly), will be starting the actual bar itself next week.
I bought the back bar from a local pub that closed.
Cleaning out the rest of the room is going to be the hard part as I have been using it for storage.
Most of what is in there s for use in the bar area though.

This is a cool door with a small opening in it like the speak easy's had, that I am going to use

What all vids do you have? Looks to be a pretty good variety in there. Once you get it all cleaned up, should look aces.

I have virtual racing, bad dudes vs ninja dragons, mortal kombat, beastorizor, time soldiers, escape from the planet of the robot monsters, area 51, millipede, wrestlemania, and primal rage.
This past week I picked up a crane claw game.
The kids run in and out after school so i dont usually worry about the floors in the front part until I am going to have freinds over.
If the bar area turns out as I plan it should be pretty cool.
-
You could have a little foyer where they place their shoes.
-
Some rare choices there, especially Beastorizer and Escape. Never played Beastorizer, though I know the Zinc emulator can play it. And Bad Dudes is just fun. Surprised the Gorf isn't a Gorf though.

the bar area
School kids and a bar. Seeing those statements so close together just seemed weird. Starting em young?:dunno
-
Well, the bar area is not yet built, and when it is I have a mall store type gate that is going to close off the bar area when I am not using it so the kids dont have access to it.
The gorf was a dedicated cab, but the monitor was dead.
It is no longer in the game room, the millipede sits in that spot now.

Did you get the front part of the bar too, or are you custom building it? That back part will look schweet once restored.
-
That window behind the foosball table makes it look like a crooked demented pin.

Yea, I've got the bar top itself also.
I have to build the frame for it and install the sink and undercounter cooler.
-
This has a lot of serious potential.
-
I'm mostly marvelling at the space. That is most of my house.
-

Right, cause you wouldn't want anyone getting any dirt on that carpet. ;)
Nice space, Mark.

Well, you have to start off fresh, yo.
And why the gate? Just cos the bar's open doesn't mean you have to serve 'em. And when you don't want runts in the space, you could put a sign up. They can read and obey, right?

I'm not as worried about the younger ones as i am my 15, 18, & 19 yr old daughters and their friends.
-
OH. They can't read and obey. Those abilities can in cases just disappear from a teen's capacity.

my 15, 18, & 19 yr old daughters
Holy crap. You need more arcades ...and a shitload more booze
-
Nice game room ... and what you said about gating off the bar area because of your teenagers and their friends really got me thinking. Of course, this is a long way away, since my daughter is 13 weeks, but I think about that sturff, like will I be able to keep a massive amount of homebrew and equipment around the house and not have to lock up the booze?
My wife is German and thus not too concerned with all that. German drinking age is lower and the kids there tend to start drinking a little water and wine with dinner really young, like pre-teen. But, even if we were cool with our girl and taught her to respect alcohol, most other parents, at least here in the US, undoubtedly will not do the same.
But then again I really want to have a game room, so we'll see. Please post more pics when you get the bar and the gate installed.

Long story short, you can't..... when you have kids then it's time to throw away all of your booze and any hopes of ever keeping any at home again. I've yet to meet a kid that wanted to drink (some like myself never had the desire growing up) that didn't get ahold of booze if their parents had it in their house. Most also ended up with mild to severe substance abuse problems.
I would never tell anyone how to raise their kids or run their lives, but if you want to keep your kids drug and alcohol free then your first step is to remove them from the house. If you want to drink, go out to drink.
Btw I dunno if you've heard but the #1 substance abuse problem for minors in Europe is alcohol, not drugs like here. The "tolerance" for booze over there is leading to 13 year old alcoholics. I'm not exaggerating on that either.

Hell no, he needs German Shepherds that hate teenage boys.

I'll be getting one of those in about 15 years. ;D
-
Seriously, dude has a bar, an arcade, and teenage girls. It's like the most inviting place ever for 17 year old guys.
-
So.... when are we all meeting up?
-
Don't let Chris near your daughters.
-
If they have a really ugly friend names Sally come over, kick her ass out!!!

YEAH, GET RID O THEM KIDS. (heheheh)
But, as some cannot handle exposure but moderation, perhaps prohibition is necessary. (And, jesus, I couldn't even think of that word for five minutes.....kept coming up with 'retribution' - weird implications in that, perhaps - and I had to think from a different connotational direction for the word.)

Probably trying to pull a smrtrst word out of your ass.
Surprising that you're becoming a constipated wordsmith ::)
Good to see you recovered in time to belch out a bit of drivel to end your post though. Coulda required a trip to the ER

It seems like they disappeared from your capacity long before that.
-
Hey, drew, my boy, I was just thinking, earlier, about how scarce you'd been, lately. I must've been picking up on your post, psychically. Cho.

My old English teacher called. He said he wanted his comma's back. ;D
