Title: polishing bakelite
Post by: USSEnterprise on May 05, 2007, 05:08:46 pm
Picked up an old GE tube radio at a garage sale for $10 today. Works well, but trying to get it looking nice. The outside is made of bakelite, with a faux burlwood design. the bakelite is hazed over with scratches, though. What can I use to polish it up? I was thinking some Novus 2, but I don't want to make it worse.

bakelite = plastic.

So, whatever polishes plastic (is there anything??)

Yes, Novus #2 works wonders on Bakelite plastic. I've done several old radios and telephones with it. Have patience though, use lots of elbow grease and it'll look like new.
