Title: Need everyones help!
Post by: ThePope43 on May 03, 2007, 10:23:53 pm
Ok, I'm building my very first MAME cabinet EVER, and I'm only doing this once, and once only!  Right now I've been following along with this tutorial http://webpages.charter.net/rbecker5/plans.html#build  So far everything has been going ok, I've just made a list of everything right now.  So far my total came out to 803$ not counting the wood and woode screws from Menards.  If Anyone can give me ANY suggestions/comments on it I would appreciate it VERY much!  Also, the computer is going to be 2.5G and it's a mini ATX motherboard and it will have 2x 256mb ram.  I want any Information that you guys can give me.  Thankyou so much!!

Measure twice and cut once.  Best approach for cabs.

Measure once and cut twice - good for looking busy but not so good for much else.

I will definitely keep that in mind! I Just got in touch with Octupus and he told me of the I-PAC which will definitely save me a LOT of money.  Also if anyone knows a cheaper site than happ PLEASE tell me because my bill there WILL be about 500$ unless someone can find me a cheaper place.

Go to the B/S/T board on this forum. Divemaster or Ponyboy will more than likely have what you need. They have better prices and way cheaper shipping than Happs direct.

Welcome to the forums.

You can find other vendors that sell arcade parts here: http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Vendors (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Vendors)

The wiki (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Main_Page) has a wealth of helpful information.

Also, I highly recommend both Divemaster127 and ponyboy if you decide to go with Happ products.

Have fun building.

You are also going to want to check out Groovy Game Gear.  They have some real nice interfaces similar to the I-Pac that Ultimarc sells.  Both companies have great customer service so you can't go wrong no mater who you work with.  My personal preference is GGG partly because of the unique items that they carry.

You might want to light it on fire first.   ;)

Alright, I PMd Ponyboy about my request for all my happ parts, and I'll hope that he can fill everything ok.  Also, I would pay someone to design my marquee and control panel in photoshop, I have a very simple layout that I want.
