Hrm. (http://www.cnn.com/2007/TRAVEL/05/02/simpsons.ride.ap/index.html)
While I really like the idea of the Simpsons ride, I also really like the BTTF ride they will replace. Plus, after spending so much time on the Spiderman ride at Islands of Adventure, the stationary/bouncing car in front of a movie screen ride doesn't quite come across the same anymore.
-
That seems more fitting for the 3d motion theaters at Paramount parks. You know, the one originally built for days of thunder? Last time I was at Kings Island, they had Sponge Bob 3d, which was actually pretty cool.
-
I really liked the Spiderman ride, but not the BTTF. It just seemed so old and poor in comparison. At least with the spiderman ride the car did actually move along from area to area as well as bouncing.
-
That's my opinion, too. Obviously the Spiderman ride presents a far more substantial investment, though, and that's a real factor. The Simpsons is a strong license but they're probably using it as a less expensive way to reuse an existing facility.
-
That will be a bummer for my ride-crazy wife, especially since she loves BTTF and hates the Simpsons (in general).

Nothing beats Captain EO!
-
Except Macaulay. (booo....)

For those who don't know WTF I'm talking about:

(yeah ok, it wasn't a motion ride, but it was in 3D and had smoke n laser effects!)
;D

Captain EO was a first, but it lead to far superior followups. The Terminator 3D experience, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Afred Hitchcock's The Birds (imagine the birds from the movie flying at of the screen to attack you, and swooping at your face, etc.).
BTW, Chris G, your wife has something seriously wrong with her! :P
-
Yes, our sense-of-humors are often at odds...
EDIT: senses-of-humor?
-
Terminator 3D was cool but for some reason I had trouble with the 3D images... maybe my glasses conflicting with the black 3D lenses. Good use of live action in combination with 3D film, though.

Actually, my wife is the same. If I can get her to watch an episode of Simpsons she'll laugh her head off, but she never has any desire to watch them. Other things I like to watch for laughs, like Frisky Dingo, 12 oz. Mouse, Evil Dead 2, she simply finds intollerable.
-
I tried to get her to understand/acknowledge British humor for a while, but gave up. Futile effort. Lately it's the YouTube stuff people post on here. I'll be laughing ---my bottom--- off so she'll come into the room. About 10 seconds later she'll walk out shaking her head. At least she appreciates most of MY jokes, so I got that going for me...
-
Is this connected to the upcoming The Simpsons movie?
-
All I can remember is smoke blowing in my face and some really stupid ghey alien puppet thing flying at you, waving goodbye, and flying off.
That was Michael Jackson.
