Title: Printing Under CP with measurements
Post by: Squeeky on May 02, 2007, 08:26:36 pm
Is it possible to print the under side of CP with Cp sketcher?  I'd like to take the file to kinkos and get it printed full size.  Only thing I can get is a high res version of the top.  Is there another program that will do this?

Visio or Photoshop

I think he means the saved file is always the top view, not the size issue.

They can probably print it reversed if that is all you are looking for.  I assume you want to place it on the back (underside) of your CP for marking and cutting/drilling the holes right?  If the can't do a reversed print they may be able to print it on vellum or acetate so that you can see through it, then you would just tape it on upside down.

Sorry, but no. There's no way to export a high-res underside image, yet. To make matters worse, there's a bug with exporting a normal sized underside image. The only way to do it right now is to capture the screen.

How do you get the layout to show in a full size screen to do a capture with a program (Snag-it, but I assume all are about the same)

You can't make the screen full size, but it should be fairly easy to piece together from two or three if needed.

BTW, you shouldn't actually need software to do a capture. Just press Alt + Prt Scr (up there next to scroll lock). Then, go into some graphics program, such as paint, and paste.

If anyone is interested, I've been working on CP Sketcher 3, which includes 96 DPI graphics for both views, along with some very cool new features. It will be quite a bit longer though until it's ready.

Great now I've got to put off drilling till you get CP3 finished.... :)

I know all I have to do is measue and mark to drill but thats not my strong suit. I can see it now, the last hole will be 1/2 inch off one way or the other..

I was going to try to save the underside view and then print it out with a "Poster Printer program" if I can figure out the scale.

Good Luck on CP3, 'cause I like CP2 !!

I'm not sure if you're kidding or not, but I definitely wouldn't recommend waiting for the new version. I'm just working on it in my free time and don't really have any target dates. It definitely will not be out within the next few months.
