???
It looks like a cab that someone spraypainted over in flat black. Looks like a latex on particleboard, but someone also spraypainted the T-molding (as I ripped off the old molding paint flaked off it as I bent it).
So anyhow...I'd like to prime right over the existing coat (its only plywood, so sanding it will just make lots of rough edges)....what should I use. I want to paint it a bright red I think. So...what kind of primer (Latex?) and what kind of red paint (Latex?). I'll be rollering it on with a foam disposable roller.
I'll probably stick to a semi-gloss...I'd like to go gloss but I've heard of all the nightmares you get when trying to do that.....
Suggestions please? Thanks!

hey headrusch, haven't seen you around these parts lately...
Is the current paint smooth? a little light sanding could go a long way for surface prep. *Shrug*...
I like tinted primer (especially if you are painting red) I like oil for durability... but I wouldn't use a foam roller with oil (I actually made the glue remove from a foam roller from the tube with oil paint)
the other thread had great tips and a variety of technicques...

Yeah, one of those things where I spent like $800 bucks on a bunch of parts and wood and then......everything went to hell :) Had to do a number of other things first then all of a sudden I had the space and the free time to start work on the mamecab. Which is now :)
Poor Gutted Cab survived the winter in the back yard! :) Luckily it was covered...I've decided to put some moulding along the bottom to fix the "crushed corner syndrome".
Yeah the surface is very smooth...so much so that I'm afraid to sand it down for fear of having to deal with all of the issues with plywood if I sand too much...I'll prime one side and see how it turns out.
I suppose I'd like to stick to latex if POSSIBLE.....but I could go oil. Which paint thread are you referring to, the one with the "gloss black is a bad idea" thread..?
