Title: Attaching Leland Spring Joysticks
Post by: campbelldave on May 01, 2007, 10:31:40 pm
I just won a pair of analog spring joysticks on eBay from a World Series control panel.

What is the easiest way to attach them to a PC for MAME?

Is there an interface that they would plug into directly?  I would prefer not to cut up and splice the wires, if I can avoid it.

Thanks for your help in advance!

The three most common methods to hook up an analog joystick (which is what those are):

Ultimarc A-Pac (http://www.ultimarc.com/a-pac.html) (either variety)
Dave's AKI (http://)
Dual Strike Hack (http://1uparcade.robandmitsue.com/projects-dualstrike.html)

This may help.

http://dave.bit2000.com/aki.html (http://dave.bit2000.com/aki.html)

These connect to the 5k pots on the stick and then interface via USB.  They can support two of the sticks (or a stick and 270° driving controls, etc.) and also have button inputs.

This looks pretty simple.  I will order one and then post a message on how it turned out.

Thanks

Oops!  Thanks Justin, that's the link that I appear to have screwed up above.
