I don't know whats best? i am getting a MK 2 cab and its in great shape, monitor as well. my computer setup is going to use AVGA2 card. Should i get a betson 27" while the sale is still going on this month, or is it easy to wire up that video card to the monitor already in my mk2 cab?
i want it to look good for a front end and MAME, also nes, snes and n64 emulators.

If your monitor is in good shape (I assume it's a standard CGA monitor?), I'd probably stick with it. In my experience, here are the areas where a multisync would be better:
1) vertical games of 288 lines or more (256 line verticals still look great on a CGA though)
2) medium resolution 512x384 games (there aren't too many)
3) windows desktop with no flicker (front ends at 640x480 look fine on CGA)
4) PC games that need 800x600
So really just ask yourself if those things above are worth $369+$110 shipping to you. :) The other emulators you mentioned all look perfect on a CGA monitor BTW.

would a front end in 640x480 look decent?

A real front end looks great. A "windows" front end like MAME32, not so much.

I think your MK 2 cab, if it's original, only has a 25" monitor. So a 27" betson wouldn't be a drop in replacement.

While I haven't tested it yet, I have an old MKII cab, and the interior is 25" wide. The Betson 27" is 24 7/16" wide at the widest point as reported by ahofle. A tight fit, but it should just make it in.
