Hello and thank you for welcoming me on this board. I am coming to you because I have no clue what I'm doing. I have a Street Fighter 2 Turbo JAMMA cabinet and I would like to convert it to a MAME cabinet. I have purchased a JPAC chip and I tried hooking it up and of course, it doesn't work since I don't know what the heck I'm doing! I hooked it up and the monitor is fuzzy and none of the joystick movements and buttons work. (I know you guys are shaking your heads saying "n00bs.....". Anyhoot, my PC is a P4 2.4GHz with a 6600GT and I'm running Mame32 with GameEx for the front end. My questions are:
Do I need to purchase anything else like an ArcadeVGA card?
How do I hook up the kick harness to this thing?

Which of the two PS/2 ports does the PS/2 cable plug into?
How can I make the monitor display properly?
Please help me or my wife will leave me!!!!
Thank you
TK
P.S. My wife won't leave me. I just won't get laid.

I feel horrible for not being able to help more since it could get you laid (which by the way I think is backwards for most of us, I know that nothing about my arcade hobby makes my wife hot for me.) The only help I can offer is that I am almost certain that the PS2 port with the PC KB/USB label goes to the computer and the KEYBOARD label is for the keyboard pass through. I am sure that the wealth of knowledge on this forum will grace you with more useful info, but I had to say hi and wish you luck with the cabinet. Welcome to the forum and I hope it all works out for you (including the part with your wife.)

I am far from an expert but since I am working on a similar project I'll offer this:
You should get an arcade VGA card. While it's possible to make it work without one you will have to learn alot about a program called Powerstrip or a few other bits of software. With the AVGA card you can pretty much plug in, and select what resolutions you want and then start playing.
For the CP:
Your jamma harness hooks into the Jpac. this will take care of Coin, start, Joystick1-4 and button1-3 on your CP. In order to hook up Buttons 4, 5, and 6 you need to wire them to the screw terminals on the Jpac itself with a common ground, (also from the Jpac.)
The PC keyboard connection goes to your PC. You can program the Jpac for your key controls or use the default. Double check that mame is set up to use the same cammands.
Now that you are setting up mame with your SF2 cab...do you have a SF2 PCB that you want to get rid of? I'd buy it if you do.
Good luck.
