Title: uroMAMEstyx arts : Recommendations, objections???
Post by: superbigjay on April 28, 2007, 10:26:51 am
Hello,

I'm planning the logos/CP for my uroMAMEstyx project and was wondering if there wasn't any vector template to start with.

I have 3 distinct graphics:
- CP overlay (~32x14)
- TOP marquee (~27x8)
- Lateral marquee (15" circular)

CP overlay
--------------------------------------------------
The 32x14 CP.

For a starting point, I intend to have something similar to Jontox's CP for his Arcadeus project.  If I'm not mistaking, the CP was done by Knievel, the art by PixelHugger and the cab by Jontox (pic#1).

On the CP, I'm using 3 joystick, a trackball, 6 button/player.  So the control are almost the same.

The idea for the CP overlay is also similar to the arcadeus CP (unless Jontox, Knievel or PixelHugger have an objection to it)

- 2 colors : yellow + another color (the cab color are stainless steel side + black.  All controls are transluscent yellow)
- similar grid background
- uroMAMEstyx tag instead of arcadeus
- Add some kind of lizard character somewhere (I need to vectorize it and modify the tail for a spiny tail (similar to pic#4)

Is there any vectorized template for this CP??  :dunno

Side marquee
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The two 15" circular side logos will be the atomic mame logo (pic#2).
They will be back-lit like a marquee.
- yellow theme
- might throw a small "uro" and "styx" before and after MAME
- might add that same lizard character

I already have the vectorized atomic logo by pixel hugger (thanks  ;))

Top marquee
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The standard MAME logo with the same modification as the side's
- yellow theme
- might throw a small "uro" and "styx" before and after MAME
- might add that same lizard character

There's also vectorized MAME logo available for a startpoint...

So, any suggestion, recommendation, objections???
Is there any vectorized CP template already available to start with??

Thanks
Jay

Hello Jontox,

yep the cab is 97% done (still have to make the bezel to hide the tv monitor frame and some software tuning), but it is functional!

The artwork is all done and completed.  Finally, I didn't used the MAME logo.
I went with the uroMAMEstyx name, used the lizard characters along with another graphic from the gamecreature cab.  Then used photoshop and illustrator to do the graphics.

Here're some pics from my other threads:

The top marquee : 28inx7.5in

The 2 circular side logos : 16in diam

The Control Panel overlay : 35inx19in

and the one for the cab build:

Superbigjay,

I really like the artwork...cartoony and bright but not overly busy...perfect balance.  Can you provide some details on this artwork?

Hello Epyx,
what kind of details are you interrested in?

The marquee and side logos were printed and glued on a white plexi to maximize light diffusion.

The CP overlay is more standard and goes under a clear plexi.
