So I am currently contemplating building a dedicated 2 player cp for dual joystick games. I am wondering if there are examples out there. My questions are:
1. How many buttons I should have for each player
2. What is the preferred positioning of the buttons in relation to the dual joysticks.
Thanks.

Is this doubling as a regular panel for single joystick, two-player games?
Off the top of my head, the one two-player, dual joystick game that required a button was Total Carnage. But I even think that was the start button that laid bombs.
I would say at least one action button if it's strictly dual joystick games. I know Cloak & Dagger needed a separate action button for the fuse.
If it's doubling as a two player panel for single joystick games, the standard six should apply if you're into fighters.

I am currently in the process of building a 4 player control panel so the fighters will be played on that. I want to build a cab for 1 & 2 player games that use dual joysticks for each player.

In other words Smash TV and Tank games. ;D

I'm considering something similar myself,
except I'm only doing 1 set (1 player, two joys)
One thing I'm looking at is a top firebutton stick
for the 2nd joystick to enjoy Battlezone.
See my CP layout pic for more details...

Hey there, check out my panel (sig link.) I love it. I love me some Smash TV, Assault, Crazy Climber, and KARATE CHAMP! With a little swapping of joysticks, or having top-fire on all the joysticks, you can have a really workable Tron layout too, as well as making Vindicators a little more playable...

Here is a pic of one of Dweebs0r's panels
It supports 2 players 2 joysticks each
