Title: X-arcade trackball 411
Post by: rampy on April 15, 2003, 11:57:19 am
I e-mailed the folks at x-arcade about their new x-arcade trackball "pre-order" page (http://wetrack.it/xgaming/af.cgi?aid=293&redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.x-arcade.com%2Ftrackball.shtml) Here's what I asked and their reply:

I had a few questions about your upcoming trackball product.

Are you manufacturing your own trackball units or using units from happs, IL, wico, or imperial/betson?

What are you using/planning on using for an interface (again homegrown, or existing interface like Ultimarcs Opti-pac or the like?)

Are there plans on sellig the components separately (like the "loose" x- arcade joysticks/buttons/interface ) or in kit form?

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions, and I'll pass along your answers to others in the emu/arcade control community.

Thanks!

Erik

We are manufacturing our own units. All electronics are as you say homegrown. We will be selling them as loose parts.

I know not everyone is a fan of x-arcade stuff in particular (although I use x-arcade sticks/buttons on my cabinet (http://ubercade.randomdrivel.com) and are reasonably happy with them) but it's a good to have more options for parts/products/etc in the emu->arcade building community IMHO.

Lets hope the x-arcade trackballs are as relatively inexpensive as their other "loose" parts! =P

but how big is it? i couldn't find that info on their website...that's rather important.  Everyone has their favorite size. It looks big, but then again the CP could just be really really small  ;)

I assume you mean the trackball, and not the base/etc...

good question... I thought of that *after* having pressed "send"...

I assume it's a 3" but it's hard to tell...

yeah i worded that weird - i meant how big is the trackball.  That's the first thing i look at when i see 'Trackball for sale' stuff on ebay, happs, newsgroups, etc.
you'd think it would be prominently displayed, especially if it is 3" - cause we all know how $$$$$  happ 3" balls are  :P
