Title: Mala & LedWiz
Post by: cornishHen on April 25, 2007, 08:42:49 pm
I have a LedWiz situation that i'm looking for advise for.   I have all my buttons on my control panel on leds using 16 ledwiz inputs plus 2 led panels on the side of the cab using 16 ledwiz inputs.  I want the panels to run a led animation constantly while the buttons are lit by the game cfg.. I currently have the Mala ledwiz plugin working to control the buttons, and I have tried simply running the standalone ledwiz app in the background to control the panel animation.  The problem is the mala plugin appears to reset the ledwiz so the animation will stop.  I've looked at the LEDBlinky plugin but I don't see how it will help the situation.   Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks I got yout files   ;)

So let me get this straight...  I'm a bit dumb  :o

You want to use half your Leds (16) to use as intended with the MaLa Led-Wiz Plugin (eg light up the buttons used in the selected game)

But the remaining 16 Leds you want to run an LED sequence constantly no matter what?

Is that right?

yes that's correct   The led panel shown on the cab photo is made up of 8 rows of leds.  I want the panel to constantly light from outside to inside and vice-versa constantly while the buttons change with ledwiz plugin.  The lwa file I sent is set to sequence the 1 panel only.

Thanks again!

It's the leds on the outside/side of the panel I just can't picture how it would look.. Maybe if you send me a short vid of the lwa animation running :dizzy:

Anyway  ...
As you found out you can't run Randys ap and MaLa's plug-in at the same time as they both talk to the Wiz via different means
The only way I can think of is a custom build of the Plug-in and even then you could not use any of the Leds on your Panel for your animation that you wanted to use as controls as they would clash

Here's a video of a basic animation...

Now I understand ;D   ..very nice   :notworthy:

So When you are not playing a game or scrolling through the game list I imgaine that you would want all 32 Leds used in animation (as per the attached vid)

Correct?

The original idea was to have the buttons remain lit to the available game controls while playing games.  Here's  an event timeline I envisioned originally..

1.  Game Selection -> Side panels on custom animation while buttons change to game config
2.  Game Play -> Side panels on custom animimation while buttons remain to chosen game config
3.  Attract or Screensaver mode ->  Side panels and Buttons running on custom animation

If I bought another ledwiz with one for the panels and one for buttons, would that allow me to run an animation in the background on one constantly and have the other controlled by Mala?  I prefer not to spend any more money on the machine, but if it makes the end result easier to implement and allows for expansion ( future led controls ), then perhaps that's what I should do..

Thanks for clarifying.... :-)

Hmmm Even if you have another LedWiz the MaLa Plugin (as it is) still won't let you control led-wiz '2' via other software as it looks for connected Led-Wiz's.  ;)

Splitting a Led-Wiz in half aint gonna work and changing the Plug-in to do one thing on one wiz and one on another is a bit of work  :-(

Ok one idea:

For the Side Leds:
I just e-mailed you a Plug-in that plays random LWA's from MaLa Start to MaLa Quit. (found in the plug-ins/LWA directory)

For the control Panel:
You would have to buy another led controller. But As you are not using RGB Leds's you could use  MaLa hardware  (http://mala.arcadezentrum.com/hardware.html)  or a Led-Wiz Mod. (http://www.members.optushome.com.au/backwash/wizmod.htm)

This way there would be no conflict  ;)

cornishHen,
I think the LEDBlinky could be modified to handle your setup - but you would definitely need a second LED-Wiz controller for the side animations.

On the other hand Loadman's suggestion will definitely work - use MaLa hardware to light the controls and the plugin for the side animations. The only downside is that you won't be able to use any of the cool LEDWiz (or LEDBlinky) features.

Anyway, I like the idea of a "cab animation" feature, so I may do the mods to LEDBlinky regardless.  :dizzy:
