I just ordered a UAII, and now my search begins for a TV to put in it. This site stressed the importance of a high comb filter, and power return:

It seems like people here get the best results using component connections. It would be great if I could find a list of acceptible MAME TV model numbers that I could look for on craigslist. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks!
I considered going with a real arcade monitor, but it looks like betson just raised their prices!

If you're using component you don't have to worry about a comb filter. I would look for a tube that does progressive scan over component if such a TV exists.

Is there some way I could rig up "power return" on most TV's? That is, have the power button permanently "pressed in", so I can turn the TV on and off by unplugging it and plugging it in?

I've have a Toshiba (27A41) power return TV I found on craigslist. I have it hooked up with S-Video right now, but just received the cables to try component connections tonight. I'm happy with the s-video, but with all the hype, I need to try it with component.
I've heaqrd of a user, in this borad, using toothpicks wedged in to hold down the power button, as you noted. :dunno

I'd also like to hear from folks on this board regarding the make and model of TV they're using for their cabs so I can do a little craigslist scrounging myself. I think ideally, we're all looking for the same things, right?
27" diagonal
26" width
S-Video and component input
auto power on
Can we get some testimonials? :) I love me some infomercials.

Here's some of the suggestions found on this board. I will add to the list as I find them.

???
Looks like it's still on sale to me?
If you don't already have a TV on hand and are going to have to lay down a couple hundred dollars anyway, then I would DEFINITELY go with the Betson. You won't be sorry.

Are sony Trinitrons ok? They are everywhere, and they usually have component in. I also want to make sure that the TV is actually using the component and not just turning it to S-video. Are flat screens worse than curved ones?
