Did you know that there's roughly 700 extra games on the hd of this??)... I went into the button config on this unit's hd, and there was an option to toggle another menu (which has the option to exit the babystar/mamewah frontend, along with rescanning the rom list), so I changed the button for "delete game" to function with this menu. Anyways, it scans the rom directory, but all the game names are displayed as their exact rom names (for example, street fighter 2 will be sf2), and none of the games could be run (it will say loading, but then that will disappear and you're still on the menu) except for 1942,1943,and 1944 (and the games in the other lists which have their long file names intact...this isn't a huge problem, since I didn't save the list so when I reboot it, everything's back to normal)...is anyone familiar with Mamewah in general? Is there a way to alter the config somehow and get these extra games on the hd running? Thanks

Hi there.
What list_generation_method are you using? Try using the rom_folder_vs_xml2info option. If this doesn't work, it would help if you post your emulator.ini file; btw, what version of mame and of mamewah are you running.
Anyway, hope it works.
Cheers,
Congui

I'll have to check it out...the mamewah version on this is called "Baby Star", a Chinese hack(?) of Mamewah, but with pretty much the same .ini settings...seems to be an older version of Mamewah; perhaps tomorrow I could upload the emulator.ini file (and at first I had it as rom_folder; then I tried rom_folder_vs_listxml with no luck...

The easiest way is if you know the version of mame it's using you could just download the dat for that version http://www.logiqx.com/Dats/MAMEBeta/MAMEBetaHistory.php and use rom_folder vs dat_file. Never fails! (cm version)

Wow; thanks-I'll give it a shot this afternoon and post the results

Ok, there's multiple versions of Mame on this lol; there's one that's 0.96, and one that's .106...if the mame emu is renamed to "play1.exe" for example (like for this 100 in 1 gamebox); do I keep the .dat file the way it is, or do I rename it to play1.dat; play2.dat, etc?

So far no luck...

Maybe it's because it runs the Mame programs through another program (according to the .ini file, it's coinup.exe)
