If I hadn't found my dear Ser.Nr. 815 I would have been bidding ---my bottom--- off on this one:
A great chance for Western European collecters :D

grrrrrr
I was following this auction, know it will go way above my budget....... ;D

The artwork isn't in that good a condition... The game board is faulty... The seller claims it's only a faulty RAM chip and says he hasn't had time to change it and will provide a replacement chip. That smells of an expensive board failure that is more than just a RAM Chip. If it was just a RAM Chip he'd have changed it before trying to auction it.
The fact is that until that RAM chip is changed there is no telling what else is wrong with the board, or anything else in the cabinet.
He gives no description on the state of the monitor either!!
The answer with this one is very much BUYER BEWARE!! Inspect it before bidding on it. For a non working cabinet this is already over priced.
I wouldn't describe it as "very nice"

It's funny, I always remembered Fozzy Bear as a FUN bear (at least, he tried to be funny)......no matter what happened, he was always optimistic and going for it.
1st: Galaxian cabs are RARE here. We're not in the US where they are sold by the dozen...
2nd: That side art doesn't look that bad at all for it's age. I've seen LOTS and LOTS worse on Galaxians being sold on e-bay, going for higher prices as well.
3rd: Seller writes in THREE languages "mail me for further info". So if you want to know anything about the monitor you could actualy try and ask him.
4th: Yes that board is faulty. Big deal, plenty 100% working for sale on e-bay for perfectly acceptable prices, and some people are capable of repairing PCB's, so if the price is right that should be no problem.
I payed €150,- for my Galaxian and yes that one has a working PCB and the monitor worked (kind off) but still had to be replaced. So I think the current bid (less than €75,-) is NOT overpriced at all, but you don't know where it will end. I do agree that the buyer should check out stuff before he buys it, but imho that is common sense
But you know when you buy something like this, that it will need WORK. And that's part of the FUN IMHO.
Else go buy something like this http://www.arcadeshop.com/games.htm and just play, if that's your fun, go ahead.

As you well know.... I'm in the UK.... We don't have quite such a shortage of cabinets that you do in Europe. However, the trade scrap price on a cabinet like this is about £25 GBP here.
It's a question of being cautious!! It could cost upwards of 500 Euros to actually get this working.... let alone tidied up. The seller knows that. Which is why he has not done it.

Yeah you lucky devils.
I may start importing them :D
Actualy my Mario Bros came from the UK according to the seller....
Not sure if that cab is all "scrap".... OK I'll change the thread title a bit .....
But don't forget it has a WHITE ball-top joystick and those are RARE !!!!
;)

Say, Level42... where do you search for when looking for cabinets... I always have to use loads of search phrases on marktplaats.nl ^^; (arcade, arkadekast, speelkast, videokast etc.) drives me nuts :P
I also found this cab.. looks very nice :D

Go to:
www.google.com
And type euro-dollar rate.....
And have fun......geez
Some people are just TOO lazy
EDIT......OK OK OK, the rate is about 1,364 now......how surprising that the dollar rate keeps dropping and dropping.
I love it though !!!! Everything from the US is cheap cheap cheap for us !!! Keep it up :D

Loki:
I hired a team of 12 people who are working in shifts scanning the internet.....
Not really.....luck mixed with the stuff you do actualy.
This one caught my eye because I was looking for the schematics of Galaxian (I have a real version already, but I was on the road and needed to have a look) on klov.com and they now list e-bay adds that are related to that game.....
I found my Galaxian on the most well-known advert site here simply by searching on Galaxian. And repeating it every 2 or 3 days.
The Mario Bros. was a lucky shot. There was an advert there for a Paper Boy. A nice cab, working but I never was a Paperboy fan....but that guy mentioned along the lines that he also had a Mario Bros cab in the same add......now THAT drew my attention. :D (When I visited he also had 2 Pole Positions....a sit-down and an upright, both broke though, and lots of other more general stuff....)
I had missed the Centipede because it was put in the "wrong" section....but someone on the Retrocomputerdag forum said that he would get that nice centipede if he had the room.....a simple search on Centipede did the rest.....
I've found something spectaculair, but despite my efforts and his promises the seller is not contacting me back .....
Thanks for that link to Terminator....I just bought it ;) Just kidding !!! It looks GREAT, nice CPO. No side shots though....and the "monitor is dead".....could mean everything, I'v learned that from my Centipede.
Also, I've got a 5 year old son, and although I'm not a pacifist, I don't like to give him gun-toys etc. Yeah, yeah, I'm a dreamer I know. I hate weapons in real life. But I love playing Unreal Tournemant......strange ehhhh...anyway, I wouldnt want a cab with two really big machine guns in the house right now. Apart from not having the space. It will be OK in a couple of years. I do have that nice light gun from Hong Kong, but I never play it while he's around....especialy since I'm usualy playing HOTD2 :D
Currently, I'll stick to my projects.....will cost enough for some time :D

nop.... it's not me.
I did not want to compete with some relation.
I'm pretty sure I'll find a galaxian one day.

Even faster just type in €74.50 to U.S. dollars and Google calculates it for you.
You have to remember to change your , to our . since Google still can't get that part right :P
