Title: TECH: QIX troubleshooting
Post by: Cornbred on April 15, 2003, 02:18:44 am
I am trying to troubleshoot my Qix which I bought non-working. I have tried troubleshooting it for quite some time now, but to no avail. Here are the problems I have noticed:

When I power up the game, the marquee lights up, the LED second from the left lights up on the video board, and the monitor powers up with no picture. Pins 1 and 2 of J1 and J11 are suppose to be at +5V according to the pinout list, but they are showing around -0.02V.

I have replaced the power supply with another original one, chips U85 and U86, and all the caps throughout the game (except for all those really tiny ones).

I have heard that ribbon cables can be the problem. If I end up needing to replace them, are there certain ones I have to use or are all ribbon cables the same (other than there length)?

Any help, ideas, or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I loved this game as a kid and I can't wait to get mine running! MAME just doesn't do it for me.
