Title: Has anyone tried to put one of these in a cab?
Post by: Freeplay on April 22, 2007, 12:03:23 am
Has anyone ever tried to hack one of these and put it in a cab?

It would save a lot of money.

It does seem like a simple way to use a TV to make a cabinet, it can't be hard to hack in some nice buttons and a stick.

This builder put one in one of his three mini-cabs.  There isn't much detail about it in the thread yet, but he seems willing to answer questions, maybe give him a shout for some more details.

Here's the thread. (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=65824.0)

I have the Pacman version.  The games are ok not great or arcade authentic, but the controller/joystick is very good.  I have yet to get the Ms Pacman version as I hear it has some rotation... maybe for tempest or Ikari.

I have the joystick in my sub-mini mame cab.  I works great! Just cannibalise what you want and dump the rest of it in the garbage.   :applaud:

The rotation is for Pole Position

It uses NES on a chip so it's the NES versions of all the games, not the arcade version.

There was no Pole Position for the NES.

I have to imagine these would be great for a series of cheap bartops, especially to sell, since your average person would be able to troubleshoot/repair the thing if it failed.

Sure clears up the ROM issue.  I don't think a Robby Roto bartop would sell...
