Well, if that's real current, I'm thinking that guy will either be dead or a cancer patient by Halloween.   :laugh2:

How do you take something totally awesome and turn it into a ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- in less than a minute...well here is how. :'(

They do say on their website it was a long exposure shot to get the complete ring
Title: Re: LOTS OF COOL STUFF AT tesladownunder.com
Post by: shardian on April 20, 2007, 01:48:32 pm
Yeah I know it was long exposure, but it really ruins the experience to see it in action.

Yeah even knowing it was a long exposure you don't expect something as lame as that.

Agreed.  After seeing that video on their webpage and everyone here saying how cool it is, I knew my job was to destroys everyones dreams  >:D

When I first saw the video I remember thinking, ok, its going to start speeding up...why isn't it speeding up...ah crap, thats all it does.

To make things worse, the video was playing at 3x speed, I believe.

The friggin' pics make it look like there is a force field around the car. Ya, that thing that takes 10 seconds to circle the car and sits about 5 feet from the door is really gonna keep me out of there.  ::)

That video is pretty lame. :laugh2:
But the still frame photos are still cool.
At least it's real stuff instead of CG.

I'd rather have the cg video that includes what is shown in the stills. ;D

Amazing. Reminds me just how much I hate being electrocuted.
Doesn't it almost make you mad when people don't know what a Tesla coil is?

So I've wondered, can you make a Tesla coil just by taking the glass globe off those things you touch and the "lightning" reaches out and touches your finger?

and this guy thinks it's fun to put on a wire mesh suit and let this thing zap him while standing on an aluminum ladder!

Nope, its not just you.  I thought the same thing.  Actually I thought at first the guy maybe had been zapped a few too many times playing with these things!   :o

Looks like he has trouble turning his neck and moving his shoulders.
Seems he knows a lot about tesla coils though.

Within seconds of seeing this guy I agree completely. Creepy looking dude. Though he does have a lot of informative stuff.

You're completely safe in a mesh suit, it forms a Faraday cage.

Some museum in Boston has a huge tesla coil show, that was fairly neat.

Erm, maybe you're safe, there are about a thousand potential points of contact with the outer surface that can put you into the flow path.  I sure wouldn't want to risk a link out of place redirecting some electrons into my testes.

The Boston Museum of Science has the world's largest Van De Graaf generator.  The show they run with it is incredible.  I've probably seen it 50 times and still love it every time.  They run several different shows a day with that generator.  It's like 5 stories high.
