Title: problem with display

ok so here's a very crappy pic of my arcade monitor

the rectangle is the monitor and the tilted shape in the middle is how a vertical game like pacman or galaga appears. so i can see all the game graphics but the display is sort of tilted to one side.
can anyone tell me what to adjust to fix this or could it be caused by speaker magnets or large amounts of steel in the surrounding area?

You didn't mention the make/model of your monitor, so I'll just go into generalities here.

Caps can cause this.  So can a yoke that's slightly twisted.

hmmm it happened after i moved the machine so maybe the yoke got knocked, thanks I'll check it out.

ok so the yoke is fine, solid as a rock and hasnt moved at all. Any other ideas anyone, this has got to be a simple fix surely?

this is possible with digital monitors when the adjustments are out

Only if he drew the picture wrong. A twisted yoke with no other issues would look like this:

Thanks for your help folks. It turned out that the magnets on my speakers were far too strong and were causing gaussing problems and also this strange tilted display. I have removed them temporarily until my shielded lower powered speakers arrive from Happ along with their degaussing coil and the problem has disappeared. Whew!
Now I just have to decide on artwork/name etc and project announcements here I come.

Ok hopefully things are fine, but when you mentioned "moved" here is what might have happened.

The Picture tube and yoke are very much influenced by the earth's magnetic field. Especially as the tube size gets larger.

Try this for the fun of it face the monitor North ( watch the tilt of the picture)- now turn the monitor south.

Did you just notice the picture tilt CCW.

This is caused by the earth's horizontal magnetic field.

on a 25" monitor expect as much as 3mm, larger tubes mor affect.
